Measurements: To fit chest 18 (20, 22) in.; length from back neck, 13 (14 ½, 16) in.

Yarn: 3 (4, 4) balls Sirdar 4-ply Cuddles Bri-Nylon or 4-ply Baby Courtelle
Needles: No.12 and 10 needles
Gauge: 32 sts. = 10 cm over patt.

FRONT-RIGHT LEG

Using No. 12 needles, cast on 39 (43, 47) sts.

1st Row: K 1, p 2, (k 2, p 2) to end.

2nd Row: (K 2, p 2) to last 3 sts., k 2, p 1.

3rd Row: As 1st row.

Change to No. 10 needles and work 2nd row once. Break yarn and leave sts. on spare needle.

LEFT LEG

Using No. 12 needles, cast on 39 (43, 47) sts.

1st Row: (P 2, k 2) to last 3 sts., p 2, k 1.

2nd Row: P 1, k 2, (p 2, k 2) to end.

3rd Row: As 1st row.

Change to No. 10 needles and work 2nd row once. Do not break yarn.

Keeping centre 6 sts. in patt, as before, work 2in. in ribbing for waist, dec. 1 st. at side edge
of last row. Work 1 ½ (2, 2 ½) in. in patt., ending at side edge.

To Shape Armhole: Cast off 4 sts. at beg. of next row.

Next Row: K to last 5 sts., p 2 tog., k 3.

Next Row: K 1, p 2, k 1, patt, to end.

Rep. last 2 rows until 22 (23, 24) sts. rem., ending at front edge.

To Shape Neck: Patt. 10 (ll, 12) sts., leave on holder, patt, to last 5 sts., p 2 tog., k 3. Cont,
raglan shaping as before, at same time, dec. 1 st. at neck edge of each alt. row until 1 st. rem.

Fasten off. Mark position of 5 buttons evenly spaced and allowing for 6th button in
neckband. Rejoin yarn at front edge of sts. on spare needle, k 2, (p 2, k 2) to end - 42 (46, 50)
sts. Complete as other side, reversing shaping and working bh to match markers thus:

Buttonhole Row: K to last 3 sts., y.o.n. twice, k 2 tog., k 1.


BACK

Work as front to **.

Cont, in patt, until back is 1 row shorter than front to beg. of waist ribbing.

Next 2 Rows: Patt, until 24 sts. rem., turn.

Next 2 Rows: Patt, until 32 sts. rem., turn.

All Sizes: Patt, to end of row.

Next Row: P 2, (k 2, p 2) to end.

To Shape Armholes: Cast off 4 sts. at beg. next 2 rows.

Rep. last 2 rows until work measures l ½in., ending wrong side.

To Shape Raglans: Cast off 4 sts. at beg. of next 2 rows.

3rd Row: K 3, p 2 tog., k to last 5 sts., p 2 tog., k 3.

4th Row: K 1, p 2, k 1, patt, to last 4 sts., k 1, p 2, k 1.

5th and 7th Rows: Knit.


6th Row: K 1, p 2, k 2 tog., patt. to last 5 sts., k 2 tog., p 2, k 1.

Cont. dec. 1 st. each end every 3rd row until 8 sts. rem. Work 2 rows straight, then dec. 1 st.
each end next and foll. 4th row. Leave rem. 4 sts. on holder.

NECKBAND

Using flat-st., join raglan seams. With No. 12 needles and right side facing, pick up all sts.
from holder tog. with 8 sts. from one side neck and 9 sts. from other -71, 75, 79 sts.

1st Row: K 2, p 2, k 2, k 1, (p 1, k 1) to last 6 sts., k 2, p 2, k 2.

2nd Row: K 6, rib to last 6 sts., k 3, work buttonhole.

Work further 4 rows for neckband as set, omitting buttonhole. Cast off in rib.

TO MAKE UP

Join side and sleeve seams, then crotch seam. Attach lower edge of buttonband.
Sew on buttons.
