AAWC Lesson Reflection (Completed After EVERY Lesson Taught)
Select (S):
Identify a lesson and what standards are you addressing
The lesson has about Regroup ones as tens and explain how we regroup ones in a one ten. In
addition, I let students to guess what we will learn today by letting them close their eyes 5
second. I used Pre-listening for students by introduce for them vocabulary words with pictures
and I model for them questions to know how we regroup ones as tens. Although, students were
join the Near pod to do one activity question to make them more involve.
Describe (D):
Who is the lesson for?
The lesson for Grade 2-5 for 24 boys and girls.
Where did the lesson take place?
It was in the Microsoft teems online Math classroom. The lesson was about Regroup ones as tens.
Besides, at the beginning of the lesson, they will listen to the rules and I told all the boys to tell
then girls please be on time then I told the girls to open the microphone and tell boys to make
microphone and make sure they have their materials such as pencil and book. Then I start the
lesson by let students guess what we will learn today by sow the picture to help them know what
we will learn.
What were you trying to achieve in your lesson?
I am working on: Implementing learning, in Math facts to solve how we regroup ones as tens, and
ask students more questions and let them to turn microphone on to told me the answers. Also,
arrived the information for students by easy way to use for them vocabulary words with pictures
and video. Also, the time management was good and I finished on time.
Analyze (A):
Why do you think the students responded the way that they did?
I feel students respond the lesson because they were enjoyable when I told them to guess what
we will learn and some students answered me about what we will learned today and their
answered were correct. In addition, learners are enthusiastic when we join the Near pod to do
one activity to be more involved. And I believe all students felt like they could regroup and they
know the ones and tens.
How well did your teaching relate to the students’ prior understanding?
In grade one, the students learned identify the place value of numbers with up to 2 digits, use
place value models. I connected the Math lesson with the place value using activities and video.
I found that this was effective, because the students were able to regroup the ones to a tens
and they were able to use Nearpod to add and solve and identify the ones and tens because in
grade one they took this lesson so they were able to did the activities. This supports the
thoughts of Robert Marzano (2004, p1) who states that "What students already know about
the content is one of the strongest indicators of how well they will learn new information
relative to the content"[ CITATION Len12 \l 1033 ].
Appraise (A):
Explain the nature of the experience from the students’ perspective
Did your lesson meet your teaching goals?
I try to achieve my goal which is planning for learning and I let students to guess what we will
learned today by showed them picture to help them. And I achieve my goal because only 10% of
students are answers correctly and the other students they didn’t answered. Also, I did for
them activity using Near pod to let them more involved also to be in one place to see each other
works. I found that the activities were appropriate for students because I make a search to
know new ideas of activities and My friends helped me because she teach their students same
lesson by giving me what I need to make the students, although I had to support the students by
translate for them the words in Arabic. According to Ben “scaffold the learning activity from
hard to medium to easy” [ CITATION Joh09 \l 1033 ]. And I feel the students are engaged because
they showed me their works and they did it correctly.
Transform (T):
How might you enhance student learning of this lesson in the future?
What are the implications for your professional practice?
For my future practice, I will look for opportunities to let students guess what we will learn, also
I will control the class. Also, I will work in my language by practice before the lesson. Explain for
the students if they have wrong answer. Also, explain the video more to let students ready to
what they need to do. Also, in the future when I will use padlet I give students chance to involve
and called students name that didn’t join to make sure students participate. And give them
another minutes when we did exit ticket because 2 minutes its not enough for them.
I could use live worksheet with the students and firstly I will solve for them one question then
students solve it independently to know how they should to solve it. And I felt, students were
understood the lessons because they were participated with me and their answers were correct.
