Common Core Read with accuracy and fluency to support comprehension: •
Standards Read on-level text with purpose and understanding. • Read on-
level text orally with accuracy, appropriate rate, and expression
on successive readings. • Use context to confirm or self-correct
word recognition and understanding, rereading as necessary.

III. Lesson Objectives TSWBAT read the grade-level passage with accuracy & fluency.
TSWBAT read the grade-level passage with purpose and identify
the key details from the text.
TSWBAT read the grade-level passage at an appropriate rate.
IV. Materials - Wonders Hardback Book
- Spiders Packet
- Spiders Diagram Poster
- SmartBoard
V. A. Introduction Mrs. Hogue’s Class: "Good Morning Class! Today, we are going
to be rereading about Spiders in our Wonder’s Hardback Book.
We will be learning about spiders and how they adapt to their
habitat.
Mrs. McCalla’s Class: "Good Afternoon Class! Today, we are
going to be rereading about Spiders in our Wonder’s Hardback
Book. We will be learning about spiders and how they adapt to
their habitat.
B. Procedures Mrs. Hogue’s Class and Mrs. McCalla’s Class:
1. The teacher will review the topic, Spiders, from our
grade-level passage.
2. The teacher will bring up the Wonder’s Hardback Book,
Spiders, on the SmartBoard.
3. The students will open up their Wonder’s Hardback Book
to the Spiders story. The students will follow along as the
SmartBoard reads the story aloud to them.
4. The teacher will distribute the Spiders Packet to each
student. The teacher will display this packet on the
SmartBoard and go through each question with the
students. The students will answer the questions via group
discussion and record their answers.
5. Once the students have completed their Spiders packet,
the teacher will distribute the Spiders Diagram Poster to
the students. The teacher will project this document onto
the SmartBoard and discuss the directions.
6. The students will utilize their Spiders Packet and
Wonder’s Hardback Book to independently complete
their poster.
7. Once the students are done, the teacher will collect and
display their Spiders Diagram Posters.
C. Differentiation Content: During this Reading lesson, I will be working with
students independently as needed during the reading portions.
Process: During this Reading lesson, the struggling students can
focus on the grasping the main idea of the passage.
Products: During this Reading lesson, the students utilize the
electronic reading function, and focus on comprehending the
topic rather than promoting their fluency.
Learning Environment: For the duration of this Reading lesson,
the students will be working in an inclusion classroom. The
classroom is equipped with spacious seating, minimal noise, and
free range to move as needed in a discrete manner to reduce
distractions and disruptions.
D. Closure To conclude this lesson, the teacher will review the main idea and
text features. Lastly, the teacher will yield any questions and
answer them accordingly.

VII. Modifications and/or Extra Time: For students who need extra time to understand or
Accommodations achieve the task, then they will get extra time to complete their
activities.
Movement: For students who have difficulty with sitting still for
a prolonged period, this activity is portioned into segments
allowing the students to move around frequently while still
receiving full benefit from the lesson.
Engagement: For students who have difficulty engaging with
their peers during discussion, their participation could be done in
a one-to-one with an aide or with a partner/small group.
