THEORY ASSIGNMENT 1
1
DESCRIBE INPUT AND INPUT DEVICES
An input is any data or instructions used by a computer that translates data into a form that
the system unit can process. Some hardware input devices include keyboards, mice, pointing,
scanning, image capturing and also audio-input. In other words, input also allows users to
communicate and get into the instructions and data to computers for processing, display,
storage and transmission.
Input devices are geared toward user-computer interaction, they are used to transform user
actions or instructions into electronic signals that are understood by computers.
For examples of input devices include are firstly, keyboards allow users to input
alphanumeric data. Next, pointing devices and game controllers allow users to direct
application software and interact with graphical user interfaces. Lastly, audio and video
devices allow users to capture sound and images.
Input also may come from other computers via input/output (I/O) devices, such as network
adapters and Bluetooth devices.
2
DESCRIBE OUTPUT AND OUTPUT DEVICES
Output is any information that has been processed by and sent out from a computer or
other electronic devices. Output is also anything that can be view on computer
monitor screen for example the words that has been type can print it out without
changing anything from the monitor. Examples of output are hard copy, printers and
headsets.
Output devices are allowing computers to communicate with users and with other
devices. This can include peripherals, which may be used for input/output (I/O)
purposes, like network interface cards (NICs), modems, IR ports, RFID systems and
wireless networking devices, as well as mechanical output devices, like solenoids,
motors and other electromechanical devices.
Some of the most common output devices that people are familiar with include
monitors, which produce video output, speakers, which produce audio output, and
printers, which produce text or graphical output.

DISCUSS COMBINATION INPUT AND OUTPUT DEVICES, INCLUDING
MULTIFUNCTIONAL DEVICES, HEADSETS, TELEPHONES, DRONES, ROBOTS
AND VIRTUAL REALITY HEADGEAR AND GLOVES
The computer sits between the input and output devices. A computer program processes and
digitalises the input information. The result is then sent to an output device such as a screen.
1. Headsets
Combine a microphone and headphones to make users easy to listen and speak at one
time.
2. Multifunctional devices
It cost efficient but lower quality. The best example that users can see is all-in-one
printers.
3. Telephones
Known as telephony and internet telephony. They also can voice-over IP (VOIP) for
hangouts, skype and face time. It will make users easier to contact anybody with a
large distance and see them even they are far away.
4. Drones
They take input from controller and send back video and sound to the user. They are
very cost effective since drones have the highest rate among the users especially when
conducting an event.
5. Robots
Use microphone, camera and other sensor as input. Output is dependent on the use for
the robots. Robots also assist in surgery.
6. Virtual reality
Created in 3D through computers for a virtual experience. Headgear with gloves have
sensors to collect data that work with software.
