1. In what ways do the theories of Pavlov and Thorndike become similar and different?

The main difference between these two theories was that Thorndike included rewarding
situations in his theory, whereas Pavlov studied only reflex responses to stimuli.

Classical and operant conditioning are both similar because they involve making association
between behaviors and events in an organism's environment and are governed by several general
laws of association - for example, it is easier to associate stimuli that are similar to each other
and that occur at similar times.

2. If you were to critique the Laws of Learning postulated by Thorndike, what may be its weakness/es?
Define your answer.

The weakness maybe is the reward system. If the students are being used to rewarding, they will think
and expect you to always give them a reward. They will not study to learn but to get the reward. The
essence of studying should be to learn or to gain new knowledge, not to get or receive rewards.

3. Do you think the laws of learning can be applied to all ages and subject areas? Why or why not?

Yes it can be applied. Laws of Learning. From my conversations with teachers around the
country about how students learn and how teachers teach, I have discovered that
certain laws govern the learning process. These laws apply to any student at any grade and in any
subject area.
