DP Control App User Guide

OVERVIEW SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

Troubleshooting
If you don’t see any references to DP on your mobile device,
make sure that DP is currently running on your Mac and
check to make sure an Open Sound Control device is present
in the Control Surface Setup window. Also make sure that the
Mac and your mobile device are on the same Wi-Fi network.

Re-establishing communication
In the future, when you launch DP Control, it will
automatically re-connect to the same computer if it finds the
same machine running a copy of DP with an Open Sound
Control control surface enabled. To change which computer
you want to connect to, see “Settings View” on page 4.

Setting the counter Add Marker: Brings up a text entry alert and the on-screen

TRACKS VIEW
The Tracks View (Figure 3) shows a list of tracks and
collapsible track folders. Each line depicting a track contains
a record-enable button, a play-enable button, the track
name, and a detail disclosure button at the end of the line.
Countoff: Causes a number of measures to countoff before
playback or recording.

Overdub: Toggles overdub record mode, in which newly


recorded MIDI data merges with existing data instead of

Wait: Causes DP to wait for a keystroke (or any other MIDI


event) from a MIDI or Mac keyboard as a signal to start
playing back or recording.

Auto Record: Causes automatic punch in and punch out


during recording at the start and end times specified in DP.
(You can set those commands from DP Control using the Set

MIXER VIEW
The Mixer View (Figure 4) shows one vertical mixer strip for
each track in the sequence. The View is separated into pages.
Swipe left or right to see different groups of tracks in your
sequence.

The bottom of the Info View contains two buttons: How To
Use and Send Suggestions.

Pressing How To Use brings you to a local copy of this


documentation. Doing so will not quit the DP Control app.

Pressing Send Suggestions brings up an email message view.


Use this view to compose an email to MOTU describing what
you would like this app to do in the future. Note that if you
type something in this view and press Cancel, you’ll get an
action sheet that allows you to Save. If you press Save, it saves
your message in the Mail app’s Drafts folder.
