Module 5 Word Advanced 1
INTRODUCTION
This module is designed to introduce students to some of the advanced features of the
Microsoft Word. In this part, students will gain knowledge on how to use advanced
formatting features involved with formatting a text or a page.
OBJECTIVES
• Learn about setting Page View (Normal, Page Layout) and understand the difference.
• Learn about setting measurement units: Inches, Centimeters, … etc.
• Format paragraph (Alignment, line and paragraph spacing, first line and paragraph
indentation). Also format Drop-Cap.
• Set Page Setup
• Check the spelling & grammar of your document and searches for and replaces a text.
• Add page numbers, headers footers , and foot notes to your documents.
• Apply Subscript and Subscript concepts
SAMPLE EXERCISE
1. Start Windows
2. Start the Microsoft Word
3. Open the file COINS.DOC you created in Module4-Q13.
4. Practice the normal and Page Layout page views, and see the difference (Use the View
menu).
5. Practice changing the measurement unit and set it to Inches (Use Tools→ Options→
General).
6. Delete any empty line in your document.
7. Change the text size to courier size 12.
8. Set the line spacing of your text to 1.5 lines (Use Format→ Paragraph)
9. Main Title formats: font size 13, bold underlined and centered.
10. Paragraph 1 Formats: (Format → Paragraph)
• Justified Alignment
• Left & Right indentation: 0.3Inch.(Indentation → Before and After text….)
• Paragraph Spacing: - Before: 6 Point - After: 24 Point
• Line Spacing: 24 Point. (Line Spacing → At least)
14. Perform a Spelling & Grammar checking to your document ( Use Toolbar or tools →
Spelling
15. Search for the word nation and replace it with word country (Use Edit→Replace).
16. Search for the text His Majesty and replace with the same text but formatted in red font
and double underlined (Use Edit→Replace→More→Format→Font)
17. Add page numbering to your document choosing the format you prefer ( Insert→Page
numbers)
18. Add a header to your document showing the phrase “Word Exercise” at the left and
your name at the right. (Use View → Header or footer)
19. Add a footer to your document showing the date at the left and the time at the right .
20. Add three footnotes to your document: (Use Insert → Footnote)
