(a) What are Quantum Computers and how do they work?

Ans:Quantum computers perform calculation based on the probability of an object's state

before it is measured - instead of just 1s or 0s - which means they have the potential to
process exponentially more data compared to classical computers. These computers are
based on superposition and entanglement, the two features of quantum physics.
Superposition refers to the fact that the amount of data that can be stored grows
exponentially as the number of qubits increases. A group of 20 qubits can hold more than
a million values at once. Quantum entanglement , on the other hand, means that unlike
traditional computers that can only process data sequentially, quantum computers can
process it all simultaneously. This empowers quantum computers to handle operations at
speeds exponentially higher than conventional computers and at much lesser energy
consumption.

While being difficult or impossible to fully understand, superposition means that the
amount of data that can be stored grows exponentially as the number of qubits increases.
A group of 20 qubits can hold more than a million values at once. However, quantum
computing also involves further concepts, particularly quantum entanglement. This
means that, unlike traditional computers that can only process data sequentially, quantum
computers can process it all simultaneously.
(b) How many Quantum Computers are currently in the world?

The “IBM Q Experience,” launched in 2016, consists of 15 publicly available quantum

computers ranging from five to 53 qubits in size. Some 12,000 people a month use them,
ranging from academic researchers to school kids.

(c) How much is the average price of a Quantum Computer?

The first working 12-qubit quantum computer. D-Wave releases the first commercially
available quantum computer. It costs $10m. A Desktop Quantum Computer for Just
$5,000.

(d) How Quantum Computers are going to change the future of work?

Quantum computing could spur the development of new breakthroughs in the fields of
science and medications, finance, military affairs, intelligence, drug design and discovery,
materials, aerospace designing, utilities (nuclear fusion), polymer design, Artificial
Intelligence (AI) and Big Data search, and digital manufacturing. This sea of possibilities
provides a vast number of benefits for society. But, here are some of the most significant
ways that quantum computers can affect our lives.

Data Processing: Google recently started sharing its advances in quantum computing,
and last year they revealed something that could be the first big step towards a functional
quantum computer. According to the New York Times, Google created a quantum
computer that can make a three-minute calculation that would have taken 10,000 years
for a regular computer to achieve. This is something that shows us the power of quantum
computers and their fast data processing power.

Drug Development:Now you may be wondering: “How will this affect my daily life?”
This ability of fast computing can help the pharmaceutical industry create better cures
faster. The process of designing and analyzing molecules is the biggest challenge in the
drug industry. Even supercomputers take a lot of time and effort to calculate and describe
the quantum properties of a simple molecule. But, quantum computers can be better at
this because they operate with the same quantum nature of the molecule it is trying to
simulate. So, this could help us develop powerful treatments for patients with diseases
currently incurable.

Data Transfer:This technology is the closest discovery we have to teleportation.

Quantum particles are entangled, which means that if you change one, another will
correspondingly change. With a quantum-powered internet, a user can share a pair of
particles to send a quantum message. This connection is so secure that the message can’t
be copied or traced. In fact, according to Wired Magazine, if someone tries to intercept
the message, it gets destroyed before anyone has a chance to access it.

Quantum-powered internet is not here to replace the current internet; it’ll be used with
different devices. However, the major challenge would be how to distribute these
particles among every user on the planet.

Forecasting Situations Faster than Ever: Quantum computing wouldn’t only work for
medicine. Climate prediction and the stock market could benefit from this technology.
Imagine what a quantum computer could do to calculate and analyze every single
possibility in the stock market. This will reveal an accurate result in a short timeframe to
help companies make better business decisions. The speed of quantum computing would
be very helpful, especially in the data science and machine learning industries.
