Q1. A Four-Bar Mechanism Is Shown in Figure1. You Should Draw Free Body Diagrams For Each Moving

This document contains instructions for a Machine Dynamics exam to be held on April 28, 2021 from 15:30-17:30 at İzmir Katip Çelebi University. It includes 3 questions asking students to: 1) Draw free body diagrams and write force/moment equations for a 4-bar mechanism. 2) Calculate the force needed for static equilibrium in a slider crank mechanism. 3) Draw and analyze a 2 degree-of-freedom mechanism using mobility formulations. Students are instructed to submit word documents or PDFs with their drawings and equations.

Q1. A four-bar mechanism is shown in Figure1. You should draw free body diagrams for each moving
links and indicate constraint and inertial forces & moments on the links. Then, you should write down
force and moments equations according to D’Alembert principle. Assume no friction and no
gravitational loads. (40 pts.)

Figure2. Slider Crank Mechanism

If M12=100 N m for illustrated mechanism in Figure 2, what force Pb is necessary to maintain static
equilibrium? |𝑂2 𝐴| = 75 𝑚𝑚 and |𝐴𝐵| = 250 𝑚𝑚. (40 pts)

Q3. You should draw a two DoF (Degree of freedom) mechanism with revolute joints. You should
verify DoF mechanism using mobility formulations. (20 pts)
