1. Discuss the growth and the current profile of the TVS group of companies.

Tamil Nadu, Madurai's late Shri T. V. Sundram Iyengar, founded TVS & Sons in 1911.
Ownership was created to engage in the car dealership and its components. In 1929,
TVS&Sons became a private limited company. Two subsidiaries, viz. In 1970, Sundaram
Motors amalgamated TVS & Sons as a division (P). Sundaram Motors and Madras Auto
Operation. TVS&Sons became a small public enterprise in 1979. Iyengar's descendants hold
their shares close, individually and through family trusts. Television. Television. T.V. To
help TVS Group expand, Sundaram Iyengar & Sons Ltd (TVSL) played a key role in
providing seed to a variety of businesses. TVS Group's main expertise is mainly two wheels:
automobile saving, parts and automotive operations such as tires, bus bodybuilding, industry-
based precision goods, and automotive electrical and related products. They have a fabric unit
and a sewing needle. A device produces computer peripherals while another manufactures
system and phone switches. The group owns many non-bank financial companies, largely
supporting the transport industry. They also manage freight and logistics. The company's
three software divisions. In India and the United Kingdom and the United Kingdom,
Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and the development units, in particular, are Tamil Nadu. TVS category
is the well-diversified, competent, albeit closely owned, an industrial conglomerate. Some of
the group's leading companies include Restricted, Lucas-TVS, Sundaram Clayton, TVS
Motor Company Limited and Sundaram Finance, Brakes Sundram Fasteners Limited
Sundaram Clayton India, and Wheels India. TVSL is the holding company for some of the
group's firms, so its investments are strategic. In major cities with a market value far higher
than book value, TVSL also has significant real estate. TVSL is currently India's largest
vehicle and automotive distributor based on its automotive and component industry expertise.
It's especially strong in South India. Ashok Leyland (ALL is the main dealer in Mahindra and
Mahindra (M&M), Honda, Fiat, GM and Daimler-Chrysler in Mahindra and Mahindra in the
South. TVSL also provides comprehensive care services. In Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh,
Maharashtra, Goa, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat, TVSL is now marginalized. Following taxes of
Rs. 26.08 billion and Rs. 428 million, the company generated sales and income in 2003–04.

2. Explain the formation of the Srinivasan Services Trust. What are the multifarious
CSR activities the trust is engaged in with what kind of outcome?
A trust was set up to fulfill its societal responsibilities by TVS Group of Companies,
particularly TVs Motor Company Ltd and Sundaram Clayton Ltd. The SST, an NGO, is the
social support organization of the TVS community business. Both Sundaram Clayton and
TVS Motor Company contribute 1% of their SST annual sales, which any of its shareholders
should not repudiate the NGOs' excellent work.' The SST employs 45 employees, including
35 on TVS Motor Rolls, and salaries. The business employs 46 people. Joshi, President of the
trust, says: "We do not have to pay for the employees of NGOs grants. The SST spends
approximately three crumbs a year on CSR operations in different areas; however, the total
value of its work can be five times higher," said Joshi. Joshi states, however, that both the
people and resources involved in the campaign and the TVS community were not the people
that took TQM into NGO monitoring projects (JFM).
Since it was created, SST has participated actively in community development initiatives. In
order to enhance the education system and provide access to better economic improvement,
water, irrigation, sanitation, health, develop community infrastructure and create a clean and
green environment, a multi-sector strategy is being placed in a place for the improvement of
education. The rural development project aims at its target by improving people's socio-
economic status. Currently, many RCD systems are being introduced in different districts.
The trust's principal goal is to build holistic countries in an autonomous way to increase
communities' autonomy. The statement from the Community Development Program of the
Trust reads: 'The goal of autonomous rural communities and a disease-free society is to
promote sustainable community development by providing basic care and quality education,
and by providing opportunities for women's development. The Srinivasan Services Trust
(SST) provides a typical example of an Indian company shifting from philanthropy to a
broader plan according to current global developments. The Trust, deeply concerned with
Tamil Nadu's widespread deforestation and degradation, nurtures a vision of state re-greening
in future years. This led to the alignment of SST's ten-year community development projects
with the ongoing efforts to preserve and protect the Tamil Nadu Forest Department (TNFD).
SST offers Tata Energy Research Institute (TERI), New Delhi, advice and technical guidance
on joint forest management (JFM).

3. What are the different and diverse kinds of CSR activities the Srinivasan Services
Trust is engaged in? Have they all contributed to the rural rejuvenation of the areas
they are serving?
The trust runs several welfare activities alone or in collaboration with other like-minded
NGOs. For example, in a hamlet in Tamil Nadu, SST offers a training program in
collaboration with the Hyderabad-based Dr. Reddy's Labs. The Livelihood Advancement
Business School (ABS), a program undertaken by LABS, offers training in various trades. In
this village, customer and sales relations and hospitality train students of both sexes. While
the LABS offers trainers, the SST provides the remaining facilities. All students come from
families with agricultural backgrounds or day-to-day wage earners seeking a better deal in
life. Padavedu's LABS training program is just one of SST's multifarious activities since it
began its work in this region in 1996. While TVS group companies do not have any business
activities in Padavedu itself, the SST took up development activities in regions around its
factories. The different and diverse kind of CSR are:
 Economic development
 Health
 Education
 Infrastructure facilities
 Eco-friendly environment.
 Healthcare

4. What are the various kinds of rural development activities the Srinivasan Services
Trust is engaged in, and with what outcome? Give suitable examples.

Rural growth programs include spiritual development. Temple, trees, and tanks are the hub of
all rural development programs. Another noteworthy aspect is the holistic approach to
making people self-reliant by actively engaging local groups.   The Namakku Naame
Thittam/Village Self Sufficiency Scheme is a maiden initiative leading to sustainable
community growth in collaboration with the local community, Rural Development
Department, and trust.

 Education, literacy promotion  Community relations: involving

employees in community development,
 Improving rural infrastructure
providing social amenities, assisting
 Rural/community development: community groups in micro-financing
welfare program, economic and credit assistance
empowerment of
 Environment
 Women, income-generating program,
 Tribal development
child welfare

Income generation programs using local agricultural raw materials, i.e., banana fiber
extraction and value-added products, agarbathi and chapathi processing, mushroom
cultivation, beekeeping, dairy,   Sheep rearing, Appalam and Masala powder began. There are
231 self-help organizations coordinated in income-generating activities. In Padavedu and
Hosur, Vocational Training for Trained Unemployed Youth was initiated in collaboration
with Dr. Reddy's Foundation under LABS. Appropriate technology, including drip irrigation
and quality seeds, are given to improve farmers' agricultural production. This is achieved
through the community-level Farmers Association. Tamil Nadu Agriculture University,
Coimbatore, forged a University-Industry Rural Development Partnership to prepare a
techno-economic feasibility study using agro-based materials to launch income generation
programs. These are some of the proposed income-generating operations. Partnership with
the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in the fields of Rainwater harvesting, environmental
sanitation, etc. SST also proposes collaborations with Tamil Nadu University for Veterinary
and Animal Sciences. The rural development changes made by TVS is portrait in the health
guidance is clearly visible. Such as: In order to stop defecation spread and maintain health
and hygiene standards in the village, individual toilets and collectives were installed. To
improve children's personal hygiene standards, school toilets have been installed.

5. Evaluate critically the overall CSR activities of the TVS Group of Companies. To
what extent are they relevant in establishing the reputation of the group?

TVS Group companies gain reputation by relevant various CSR activities. One of the
activities is Major Eye Camps coordinated with Aravind Eye Hospital in all places. Since
1996, 12,000 cataract surgeries have been conducted in partnership with Indian Oil Ltd.
(IOL) in all locations. Alcoholism Treatment Residential Camp was conducted through T.T.K
Hospital, Chennai. Noticeable changes in the quality of life of 100 people. Help services for
the 'Varumun Kappom Scheme,' Pulse polio, etc., have been expanded to the department of
Public Health at all locations. Dental check-ups, including extraction and filling, and
pediatric health programs for school children were performed in all government schools, such
as Nava Tirupathi (Thuthukudi), where 10,000 children were covered in 33 schools Padavedu
(Tiruvannamalai). Person and communal toilets were designed to avoid open defecation and
uphold village health and hygiene standards. Schools Improvement Facilities include the
construction of running water toilets, balwadi construction, fencing, drinking water,
classroom partition, additional buildings, sports and cultural programs, upgrading of the
Tirukurungudi High School, the supply of science and audiovisual equipment, scholarship for
the poor pupils, etc. SST operates schools based on child-focuses and project-oriented
education at Hosur and Tumkur, with an integrated 'learning through' approach and
experience. TVS often follows the same approach. S. Srinivasan Advanced Vocational
Training Centre, Vanagaram, near Chennai. The National Apprentice Board – approved
courses offered are industrial computer, mechanical, and electronics for three years. Annually
60 students (boys and girls) are chosen and given theoretical training at the center for
practical training on the shop floor. Studying the Srinivasan Services Trust's multi-
dimensional work clearly shows how companies can perform miracles by bringing their
material and human resources together to promote community well-being. Another major
contribution of TVS was in 1990 when the Ministry of the Environment and Forest of the
Union issued Joint Forest Management (JFM) Policy Guidelines for Combating Deforestation
and Decrease in the region, forestry management in India underwent significant changes. The
JFM is a governance structure that assigns responsibility for forest protection and ecosystem
people1 in collaboration with the State Forest Department concerned for restoration,
productive use and sustainable conservation. People are organized into Village Forest
Committees (VFCs) at the village level with the VFC-elected Executive Committee (EC).
The EC plays the regulator's role in controlling forest access and restricting the use of forest
products such as grasses, NTFPS, and a portion of the proceeds from trees when they mature.
Some of the other activities of TVS to help the Tribal Diplomats and Rehabilitates to the
Tsunami and Earthquake Affected Areas. Sundaram Clayton Ltd and TVS Motor Company
Ltd. helped to rejuvenate an important portion of Tamil Nadu's rural economy by establishing
a trust for workers, supporting and engaging with other non-governmental organizations,
government departments and others. The trust took a multi-faceted approach and worked to
address numerous challenges and problems in the rural economy. They have noticed that
when the urge to raise the needy is strong, resources are not limited; rural people will take
continued cooperation as a matter of course. The great work of the Services Trust Srinivasan
TVS Group is a plan for other indigenous companies' social responsibility. The Loyola
Institute for Corporate Governance (LIBA) bestowed an outstanding contribution to the
benefit of the impoverished sections of society well beyond the need for duties and
obligations to the Organization by acknowledging the excellent charity work of TVS Motor
Company Ltd and its role model for other companies and the whole world.
