This CLM is composed of different parts. Each part shall guide you step-by-
step as you discover and understand the lesson prepared for you.
Pre-test is provided to measure your prior knowledge on the lesson. This will
show you if you need to proceed in completing this module or if you need to ask your
facilitator or your teacher’s assistance for better understanding of the lesson. At the
end of this module, you need to answer the post-test to self-check your learning.
Answer keys are provided for all activities and tests. We trust that you will be honest
in using them.
In addition to the material in the main text, Notes to the Teacher is also
provided to our facilitators and parents for strategies and reminders on how they can
best help you in your home-based learning.
Please use this module with care. Do not put unnecessary marks on any part
of this CLM. Use a separate sheet of paper in answering the exercises and tests.
Likewise, read the instructions carefully before performing each task.
If you have any question in using this CLM or any difficulty in answering the
tasks in this module, do not hesitate to consult your teacher or facilitator.
Thank you.

What I Know
Direction: Problem Solving: Analyze the given situation below and do what
is required.
Given: Line PR is perpendicular bisector of line AB. Q, S and T lie on line PR.
Problem: If AT = 3x, BT = 2x + 2, PA = 3y – 1, and PB = y + 5, find the perimeter
of ATBP. Each of Xylie, Marie, Angel and Chloe was a given a chance to solve
the problem given by the teacher which shown above. After several minutes,
they arrived at a certain answer as follows: Xylie – 22 units, Marie – 24 units,
Angel – 26 units and Chloe – 28 units. Who among them got the correct
answer? Justify your answer by showing a complete solution.

What’s In
1. What do you call the congruent sides of an isosceles triangle? How about
its third side?
2. What is the relationship of the base angles of an isosceles triangle?
3. What do you call the angle included by the legs of an isosceles triangle?

Solutions:
Since x = 5, then
m∠N = 9x
= 9(5) Substitute

Solutions:
Remember that the converse of Isosceles Triangle Theorem states that: If two angles of
a triangle are congruent, then the sides opposite these angles are congruent.
Solutions:
GE ≅ GF Theorem on Angle Bisector
3x + 12 = 5x Substitute
3x + (-3x) + 12= 5x + (-3x) Addition Property of Equality
12 = 2x Addition of Algebraic Expression
x=6 Multiplication Property of Equality
Since x = 6, then
GE = 3x + 12
= 3(6) + 12 Substitute
= 18 + 12 Multiply
= 30 Add

Take note of this theorem: A point on the bisector of
an angle is equidistant from the sides of the angle.
Solutions:
AD ≅ BD Theorem on Perpendicular Bisector
3y + 4 = 5y – 10 Substitute
3y + (-3y) + 4= 5y + (-3y) - 10 Addition Property of Equality
4 = 2y - 10 Addition of Algebraic Expression
4 + 10 = 2y – 10 + 10 Addition Property of Equality
14 = 2y Addition of Algebraic Expression
y=7 Multiplication Property of Equality
Since y = 7, then
BD = 5y - 10
= 5(7) - 10 Substitute
= 35 - 10 Multiply
= 25 Subtract
