Internship Report Contents and Writing Guidelines

Department of Management Sciences


University of Lahore, Sargodha campus
Dear students!
The internship is an integral part of the Bachelors in Business Administration program. This work
should provide you with valuable insights into the professional and industry-oriented side of
commerce in practice. You are required to spend maximum 6 weeks in an organization for
internship. At the end of your internship period, you are advised to submit an internship report
following the specifications outlined in this guide. Internship report contents and writing guidelines
are mentioned below in detail.
1. Title Page

The title page of the report will include:


a. Name of the organization
b. Name of the internee, Student ID and session
c. Submission date of the internship report
d. Name of the University
e. UOL logo
2. Scanned copy of the internship certificate (provided by the organization)
Attach the scanned copy of your (original) Internship Completion certificate provided by the
organization.

3. Dedication (Optional)

If you want to dedicate your work to someone, you may write the dedication note under this section
of your internship report.

4. Acknowledgement

In this section you acknowledge the help and support of all the people who helped you in completion
of your internship and internship report e.g. the library staff, course instructor, family or any other
person.

5. Executive Summary

Executive summary previews every section of the report in a short form. It can be called as micro
image of the report. It helps the reader to get a quick glance at the report before reading it in detail.
Everything important that you have done, discovered and concluded should be mentioned but briefly
and concisely.

6. Table of contents
List the important headings and sub headings in the report with page numbers.  Also make a separate
list of tables and figures in the table of contents if you have used any. Contents of each chapter are
written below.

1. Vision
2. Mission
3. Organizational Hierarchy

1. Internship Experience Summary

3. Recommendations For The Internship Organization

5. References
7. Appendix/Annexes
At the end of your report, attach all of the supportive material you have used for the preparation of
your report, like brochures, forms, newsletters, interviews, questionnaires, news reports, articles,
features, columns etc.
8. Internship Report Format Guideline:
1. Font Style: Times New Roman
2. Font Size: Heading 14 and Body 12
3. Line Spacing: Double line spacing
4. Page Margins: Normal
5. Text Alignment: Text should be Justified aligned as per APA style
6. References: End references should be according to APA styling
Notes:
A brief description of the internship and/or project which includes:
 Employer/company mandate and goals
 Product or service provided by the employer
 Your department and how it fits into the organizational structure
 Your projects, responsibilities and activities and how they tied into the company's or
organization’s mandate and goals
 Analyze your internship experiences as they relate to:
 Personal learning objectives with which you went into the internship
 The courses you took and seminars you attended in your degree program and how the content
and teaching methods related to the internship
 What knowledge or skills areas you wish that your degree had offered that you did not have,
going into the internship
 Proof that you were able to show your ability to work in an interdisciplinary setting or
situation and with teams of people or individuals from different disciplines
 How the employer enhanced or could have enhanced the internship learning experience
Final Conclusions and Recommendations about your internship for:
 Your employer (with respect to the project or work you were assigned)
 Other students (what characteristics and qualifications would be useful to have to work for
this employer, and information about the employer that may be valuable to other students)
 Yourself (How this internship experience will help you reach your career goals)
