Cultural Competence Self-Assessment Awareness Checklist

This document provides a self-assessment checklist to help individuals explore their cultural competence. The checklist contains statements about awareness of diversity, personal cultural identity, sharing one's own culture, awareness of discomfort around differences, checking assumptions, challenging stereotypes, reflecting on how one's culture informs judgments, accepting ambiguity, being curious, and awareness of privilege as a white person. Respondents indicate how often each statement applies to them, from never to always, and scores are calculated to indicate their level of cultural competence, with more points indicating greater competence. The goal is to help individuals recognize what they can do to work and live more effectively in a diverse environment.
