subtleties. Education alone is beauty with its sorrows and joys. One of the most essential and crucial
part in teaching is preparation. Questions are running into my mind as we come along this orientation.
Am I prepared for it? Is this really the path that I wanted? I am a bit worried of what will happen to me
when I will be deployed out there and know nothing. There are a lot of scenarios that my mind is rolling
at the moment. Different agendas and different teachers will be my companion, my advisor and I am
mingled with and I, myself admitted that I am not yet fully prepared for what will happens next.
Teaching is the noblest profession of all. Yes, we always hear that most of the time especially
during teacher’s month celebration. But do you even consider yourself to be one? Some of us would
definitely picture themselves teaching but others are not. Which one are you? Are you really pursuing
the dream of your life or are you going to move forward and continue what you have done from the
start. Those are just a simple question most of my relatives asked me. Why are you still continuing your
studies knowing that there are no future for teachers now a days? Is there a difference? You are still
looking and making money same with going abroad and living a lavish life out there. My heart felt
broken at the moment knowing that this was my lifelong dream and someone stood there saying those
negative words from me. It hurts my ego, it downs my confidence of becoming a real and great teacher.
But then I realized, who are they to control me? Who are they do dictate what will I do with this life? So,
here comes the orientation it cleanses my mind and release all those negative vibes running into my
blood at that certain time.
On a sunny day, 17th of September 2021 an orientation was being held online in the lead of our
very supportive dean and loving teachers. This was not just a simple orientation rather it helps us renew
our minds and be prepared of what is waiting ahead of us. Those unpredictable happenings had
hindered us in pursuing the feeling of teaching face to face with our students. We are once again
doomed yet trying to cope up with these hardships in order for us to go on with our lives despite the
amidst of Pandemic. Teaching is not an easy task at all. It takes passion, commitment, dedication and
love to be called a great teacher. In the orientation we are taught of what, where and who are the
people involve in each level. What are their responsibilities as well as their duties and how they interact
and act as a high ranking officials and a respective citizen of this country. There are lot of things that we
need to remember. Teaching was not just about teaching it is on how you deal with your students,
fellow teachers, parents and the community. It is in need of us to take them as part of this profession
and consider their feedbacks as well as what they can contribute for the betterment of this educational
system.
As we are in the middle of the orientation I remembered one of my grade school teacher’s
favorite essay “All teachings are mere references. The true experience is living your own life.” There are
a lot of books saying about the proper way of teaching in the classroom, there are a lot of seminars that
teachers are attending to in order for them to enhance their teaching and learning but we must also
consider the fact that those seminars and books that we’ve read are useless when it is not being applied
and implemented well. There is no greater way than discovering your strengths and the needs of our
student. A great teacher is someone who is willing to learn, hear and commit mistakes. Teachers are not
perfect, they are just human committing mistakes all over again and they are no different to us.
There are a lot of talks in the seminar. A lot of things that we carry as provisions to what we are
facing weeks from now. We are now going to battle halfway to the goal everyone is wishing and looking
up for. We are just a few steps behind. Being intelligent is not enough, you need to be diligent,
perseverance is no excuse to that. We are just a practice teacher waiting for our deployment. We are
just a student and not yet a full pledged teacher. We are just starting the journey of contributing hero’s
in this nation. The essence of learning is a constant movement without a fixed point. If its point becomes
your prejudice, your opinions and conclusions, and you start from this handicap, then you cease to
learn. Learning is infinite. The mind that is constantly learning is beyond all knowledge. So you are here
to learn as well as to communicate. So when we come to those schools, or to any school in fact, there
must be this gentle quality of learning, and with it goes a great sense of affection. When we are really,
deeply affectionate then we are learning.
