Interactive Web Application

This document describes an interactive web application for transport model simulation using Python. It uses parameters like population, travel cost, income, employment, education levels, distance/cost of travel, urbanization and built area to simulate the number of trips. The model simulates data from only one month in 2019 for demonstration purposes. It proposes using Python packages like DASH, Django and Streamlit to develop visualizations including maps and graphs. Controls would allow selecting parameters and datasets. Output could be generated as a report. The developer is looking for a resource to work on this for around a month with intermittent senior guidance to further develop the functionality and design. Payment would be set in phases over possibly 3 months contingent on satisfactory progress and discussions. An

Interactive web application for Transport model simulation

Introduction: Transport Model (ML) developed using python to simulate number of trips based on
various parameters such as population, travel cost, Income, employment, education levels,
distance/cost of travel, urbanization (developed land area) and built area (buildings). These files in
total are not above 50mb in size and for the moment can be hosted on a local computer instead of
hosting it online for the web-based platform. Or if it can be done using applications like Heroku,
we would try to do that!

The model is a sample simulation for only a month of 2019 data. This project is being worked for
demo purpose.

Frontend: I wish to use python-based packages like DASH, Django, streamlit to develop the
visualizations. The visualization would include Folium/Ipyleaflet like packages to invoke the Google
Earth Engine databases (https://developers.google.com/earth-engine/datasets/catalog). I have
worked with such a GEE application and would be helping in the creation of the website. I am aware
of the python packages which can be used to invoke the said datasets for visualization of some
parameters. The other visualizations would include analytics generated graphs, a network analysis
scenario for the manipulated parameter outcome thru model- “Number of trips”.

Apart from the visualization over the two maps as explained, we need to have controls (invoke the
parameter data, dropdown for dataset choice, buttons to process model results, etc.). Lastly, the
outcome can be printed in the form of a generated report for the selections made. I have worked
on this as well and would be able to guide positively.

We would use pycharm, VSCode or atom as IDE. I am comfortable with either.

Requirement: I need a resource to work with me for a duration of about a month for the above
functionality. I would want to discuss the web-design, functionality and work daily. It would be
advisable for a senior resource to guide the development of the work intermittently.

It would be better to set a phase-wise pricing for the work for this stage. Although the work would
take roughly a month, I am prepared to allow upto 3 months, given I am satisfied with the
discussions and work.

You will also need to sign an NDA before we begin the work as the project is in its inception and
scalable further. This is an opportunity to work on geographical information system, which is
gaining importance specially in India for the big data generated by smart city projects. This project
is inspired from my work for the smart city initiative projects in India before I started in Sweden.
