Physics-1-Module-5-Laboratory Activity No. 5

This document contains a laboratory activity for a General Physics 1 course. It includes 5 objective test questions covering concepts like inertia, motion, and forces. It also includes 2 sample problems assessing concepts like acceleration and average force. The document provides rubrics to evaluate laboratory reports on excellent, very good, good, fair, and poor scales based on completeness of data, organization, analysis, and accuracy/interpretation.

LABORATORY ACTIVITY NO. 5

Question for analysis:

I. Objective Tests. Answer the following questions/ statements.

1. A ball with 4 kg object is moving horizontally with a speed of 4 m/s. Find the net force that is
required to keep the ball moving at this speed and in this direction. (2 points)

An object in motion will continue to move in the same direction. The presence of an imbalanced
force alters the object's velocity. Therefore, the answer is 0 N.

2. This pandemic most of us spend our time watching movies while eating, playing games in our
mobile phones or sleeping and we don’t tend to do exercise. In this case, what affects (if any)
does this practice have upon with our inertia? Explain. (3 points)
Since the mass of body is at rest, the inertia too is at rest state. The more inertia that an object has,
the more mass it has, so the mass will increase as the inertia increases.

3. Lou Thang visited a place that is far from all gravitational and frictional influences and throws a
rock. The rock will:
a. Continue motion in the same direction at a constant speed
b. Continue motion in different direction at a constant speed
c. Continue motion in different direction with varying speed
d. Gradually stop

4. Chiz and Mhoza are arguing. Chiz says that if he push the wheel chair with a greater speed it will
have a greater inertia. Mhoza argues that inertia does not depend upon speed, but rather upon
mass. Who do you agree with?
a. Chiz’ statement
b. Mhoza’s statement

5. Would an object require force to move in a weightless room? Explain. (3 points)

Even objects in space have mass. They also have inertia if they have mass. An object in space, in
other words, resists alterations in its state of motion. To move a motionless item, a force must be
applied.

II. Problem Solving. Answer the following in a clean sheet of paper. Identify the given and show your
complete solution. Box your final answer.
1. A bus is accelerating at a rate of 10 m/s 2. What is the new acceleration of the car if the force is
doubled and the mass is halved?
Criteria: Given/ Illustration (1 point)
Complete Solution (2 points)
Final Answer (2 points)

2. A 565 kg minecart is travelling at 78 km/hr. What is the average force required to stop the
minecart in 23 s?
Criteria: Given/ Illustration (1 points)
Complete Solution (5 points)
Final Answer (4 points)
