You have been learning about Projects and their lifecycles as well as the different processes
that can be adopted for Project Management. Please provide the answers to the following
questions individually:
Planning - This phase is key to successful project management and focuses on developing a
roadmap that everyone will follow. This phase typically begins with setting goals. Two of the
more popular methods for setting goals are S.M.A.R.T.
Execution - This is the phase where deliverables are developed and completed. This often
feels like the meat of the project since a lot is happening during this time, like status reports
and meetings, development updates, and performance reports. A “kick-off” meeting usually
marks the start of the Project Execution phase where the teams involved are informed of
their responsibilities.
Performance - This is all about measuring project progression and performance and ensuring
that everything happening aligns with the project management plan. Project managers will
use key performance indicators to determine if the project is on track.
How does a project life cycle differ from a product life cycle?
The project life cycle is the sequence of phases that a project goes through from initiation to
closure. Projects are undertaken to produce a product, service, or result, and after delivering the
output the project ceases to exist and the project life cycle ends whereas product life cycle is The
product life cycle describes the stages a product passes through from conception to retirement.
What makes IT projects different from other types of projects? How should project
managers adjust to these differences?
IT projects to involve teams with different backgrounds and skills as well as widely varying
technologies. IT projects are different from any other type of project due to their size, complexity,
and often very diverse team members.
IT projects are diverse. Managers need to adjust to these differences through understanding that IT
projects have diverse team members and technologies, and that bringing together diverse
individuals with changing technologies can produce projects and IT projects.

cons?
SDLC is the process of design and development of a product or service to be delivered to the
customer that is being followed for the software or systems projects in the Information Technology
or Hardware Organizations whereas Agile is a methodology that can be implemented by using Scrum
framework for the purpose of the project management process.
SDLC will be easier to know or look at a glance to easily understand the project, whereas Agile is
easier and simple to understand and use and implement.
SDLC has different models, and managing the parts of the project depends on the model, whereas
Agile is easier to manage and flexible to the developers and the entire team.
SDLC describes all the activities to be performed for the delivery of successful project delivery,
maintenance and support, whereas the Agile manifesto has different principles up to 12.
SDLC provides a systematic approach to building software towards successful product deliverables
within the timelines, whereas Agile has faster development approach and speeds up the
development process in an effective and efficient manner.
