Objectives: At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
Identify different types and basic parts of a computer.
Explain hardware component of a computer.
I. INTRODUCTION
A computer is a device that manipulates information, or "data." It can store, retrieve, and process data. You can use a
computer to type documents, send email, and browse the internet. It can also be used to perform worksheets,
accounting, database management, presentations, sharing of videos and more.
Hardware is any part of your computer with a physical structure like a computer monitor or keyboard.
Software is any set of instructions that tells the hardware what to do. It is what guides the hardware and tells
it how to complete each task. Some examples of software are web browsers, games, and word processors
such as Microsoft word.
Types of Computer:
Desktop Computer is designed for use at a desk or table. They are typically
larger and more powerful than other types of personal computers. Desktop
computers are made up of separate components. The main component, called
the system unit, is usually a rectangular case that sits on or underneath a desk.
Other components, such as the monitor, mouse, and keyboard, connect to the
system unit.
Laptop is battery or AC-powered personal computer that are more portable
than desktop computer, allowing you to use them almost anywhere.
System Unit is the core of a computer system. Usually it’s a rectangular box
placed on or underneath your desk.
Keyboard is an input device the main way to enter information into the
computer.
Speaker is used to play sounds and allows you to listen music from the
computer.
Printer is an external hardware output device that takes the electronic data
stored in a computer and generates a hard copy of it.
