The document discusses Sternberg's Successful Intelligence Theory and WICS Model. It explains that Sternberg developed the Triarchic Theory of Intelligence and later simplified it to the Successful Intelligence Theory. The WICS (Wisdom, Intelligence, Creativity, Synthesized) Model was then proposed as an alternative way to assess and teach students. Introduction

Robert Sternberg did extensive work in the field of intelligence. As a

youngster, he had difficulty with intelligence tests. He did notperform well on such
tests. Thismight have fueled his interest in the field that led him to come up with the
Triarchic Theory of Intelligence in the 1990’s. Over the years, his theory evolved from
the more complicated, componential Triarchic Theory to the simpler, successful
Intelligence Theory. More recently, in collaboration with other prominent psychologists,
he proposed the WICS (Wisdom, Intelligence, Creativity, Synthesized) Model. It is an
alternative paradigm to deliver more relevant admission, instructionand assessment in
education. This module will introduce you to the theory and the model. It is hope that it
will spawn your interest and make you want to explore more.
