Lesson 1 – Definition, Perspectives, and Approaches in Learning

Behaviorism and social-cognitive learning theories are included in the learning perspective,
which is a psychology approach that stresses how the environment and experience shape a
person’s or animal’s actions. The last three categories of these theories are insight, latent
learning, and models.
Cognitivism
One of the philosophies that is frequently applied in the classroom is cognitivism. This idea
explores advanced thinking by utilizing the brain’s cognitive abilities. To enhance cognitive
ability, the teacher will employ reasoning, problem-solving, and memory recall. The teachers are
encouraging the students to think more deeply and diligently in order to address the issues at
hand
Constructionism
According to constructivism, rather than just absorbing information passively, students actively
create their own knowledge. People construct their own representations of the world and
incorporate new information into their prior knowledge as they encounter it and reflect on it
(schemas).

Behaviorism
The core principle of behaviorism is that all actions are acquired via interactions with the
environment. According to this learning theory, intrinsic or inherited traits have relatively little
bearing on behavior and that instead, actions are learnt from their environment.

Connectivism
Connectivism learning happens when peers connect and cooperate to exchange ideas, thoughts,
and viewpoints. By connectivism, a group of individuals may give their actions legitimacy,
enabling information to flow more swiftly throughout other groups. It gives instructors and
students more authority.

The link between technology design, digital media, cultural context, social interaction, and
learning is examined in the degree programs in instructional technology and media. Courses give
students a broad introduction to theories of cognition and design as well as in-depth studies of
how to put these theories to use.
Chalkboards, textbooks, overhead projectors, teachers, mass media used for education
(newspapers, cinema, radio, and television), and more recent “electronic” instructional media
(computers, interactive video, and multimedia systems) are all examples of instructional media.

Although instructional technology has a wide range of uses and advantages, they all have one
common goal: to produce effective and interesting learning experiences. And many uses of
educational technology have been successful in reaching this objective.

Four Phases of Learning
Preparation, Presentation, Practice and Performance.

Preparation: The goal of the Preparation Phase is to give them positive feelings about the
learning experience, and put them into an optimal state for learning

Presentation: The goal of the Presentation Phase is to help the learners encounter the new
material in ways that are interesting, enjoyable, relevant, multisensory, and that appeal to all
learning styles.

Practice: The goal of the Practice Phase is to help learners integrate and incorporate the new
knowledge or skill

knowledge or skill to the real world. This phase ensures integration of learning into the job as
well as continuous performance improvement.

The goal of implementing technology in the classroom is to have instructors and students gather,
access, analyze, display, and communicate information in new, inventive ways that will help
them both grasp topics more easily.
Benefits:
1. Learners become active and learning through technology becomes part of their lifestyle.
2. Through technology, learning becomes easier. Engaging with technology does not only help
children to learn but they also learn the skills of engaging in multi-tasking activities.
3. Integration of technology enables the students to learn at their own pace.
4. Technology provides many different means of learning the concepts and helps them to become
more hands-on in performing their academic tasks.

Higher order thinking skills (HOTS) is a concept aimed for educational reform using Bloom’s
Taxonomy.

Lesson 5 – Key Players and Roles in the Learning Process

Key players in education are the significant people who can influence the kind and quality of
education that every learner can achieve. Regardless of the budget, no matter how good the
educational programs are, without the competent key players in education, its implementation
would be a failure.
Curriculum specialists are also called instructional specialists.
Aside from engaging in research, revising school materials and implementing curriculum, they
also support school teachers by giving constructive feedback on their performance using data
analysis and observation.

School administrator is one of the influential key players of the school.


The kind of leadership that the school administrator can greatly affect the success and failure of
the school. In spite of the multiple and remarkable duties of the school administrator in managing
the school, he also has a significant impact on the kind of culture a school can establish and play
a vital role in the development of the staff while under his supervision.

Teachers are known for the role of educating the students while under their custody. More so,
teachers serve other roles inside the classroom. They set warm environments, mentor and nurture
students. With the given curriculum, all pertinent knowledge is dispensed to the learners.
Learners. It is very clear and well-defined in traditional educational model roles and
responsibilities that the teachers are responsible for the effective delivery of content and for
evaluating learner’s achievements. Teachers’ primary role is to impart knowledge to their
students in the most effective ways as an educational expert.
