Activity Sheet

I. Read and study the definition of each term. Write C if the given definition
follows the correct pattern and observes correct grammar. Write I if the given
definition is incorrectly constructed. If it is incorrect, you must rewrite the
whole sentence definition correctly.

__________1. Literature, examples are poetry, novels, history, biography, and


essays.
__________2. Conjunction is a part of speech that connects two parts of a
sentence.
__________3. Fragment is an incomplete piece of a sentence and does not
contain a complete thought.
__________4. Anecdote is usually a short narrative of an interesting, amusing,
or biographical incident.
__________5. Context refers to the part of a text or statement that surrounds a
particular word or passage and determines its meaning.

II. Find 15 new words in the dictionary that you are not familiar with. Write the
words in your notebook. Using the dictionary, write an expanded definition of
the words you have chosen.
