This lesson plan aims to teach kindergarten students about the four seasons. The teacher will use Padlet, a collaborative online tool, for students to share what they know about seasons. To assess prior knowledge, the teacher will ask students about the clothing worn in different seasons. Students will then pick pictures of clothing and match them to the appropriate season. Their knowledge will be assessed through an interactive game on Blooket. The lesson aims to engage students and have them identify the seasons and typical weather through multiple interactive digital activities.

Lesson Idea Name: What’s the Seasons

Grade Level/Content Area: Kindergarten Science

Content Standard Addressed: SKL2.ESS1.C History of the Planet Earth

ISTE Technology Standard Addressed: What would you like students to know and be
Empowered Learner – 1.1.b. Students build able to do by the end of this lesson: By the end
networks and customize their learning environments in of this lesson children should be able to identify
ways that support the learning process. the 4 different season and what type of
weather occurs.
What is the student learning goal(s) for this lesson idea? Identifying the four seasons, students
should be able to identify the 4 seasons. Encouraging students to share their personal experiences
by relating personal experiences related to each season.

How do you plan to implement this lesson and integrate the technology? Check all that apply:

☐ Teacher-led: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations. Learning activities are assigned to the
student and mostly practice based.

X Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic
of learning and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. The
teacher facilitates the learning as the students direct their own learning processes.

X Problem-based (Real world problems) and/or Publishable: Students are solving problems
and completing projects to demonstrate their learning. Additionally, the projects can be shared
outside of the classroom. (Note: This objective could be reached by displaying the project on the
school’s morning newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, presenting it to another
class, or publishing it via an outside source.)

Lesson idea implementation: As you address the standards, what will students and teachers do? I
will have the students engaged by the different Web 2.0 Tool which I used Padlet that tool has collaborative
sources for the students to work together. To access students’ prior knowledge, I will ask the question
“What do you know about seasons”. The real-world task I would have kids pick out pictures of
different clothing and ask them which season they will wear that clothing. My students will be
assessed by playing a blooket game that I created to test their knowledge. I will conclude the lesson
by asking the kids what they learned today.
Managing student learning: I really believe that the children will shift to active learners because it is
very relatable to the students and their everyday experience with the weather, like knowing to wear

when the weather is cold and knowing what not to wear when it’s hot outside.

I will allow for time-on-task and shift from passive to active learning by setting clear expectations on
what information I want them to gather from the learning assignment.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL): This learning activity will express engagement because I used
the Padlet tool where students can share ideas and I was able to add video content and a book that
students can see visual pictures the matching game for memory and the fun assessment game on
Blooket.
Reflective Practice: Yes, I think the lesson that I have created for my students is fun and interactive
it involves a video clip a story book, a fun assessment game and even a create your own sentences
about your favorite season which gets the kid connected. Going forward I will implement my lesson
plan with Web 2.0 tools because it gave me a flow of how I can carry out my lesson.
