• What are competency standards? What are the ICT standards for teaching and learning in
Philippine pre-service teacher education?
Competency standards are made up of units of competency, which are themselves made up of
elements of competency, together with performance criteria, a range of variables, and an evidence
guide. Competency standards are an endorsed component of a training package. The ICT standards
for teaching and learning in Philippine pre-service teacher education have the 7 Domains which are,
Understanding ICT in Education, Curriculum and Assessment, Pedagogy, Technology Tools,
Organization and Administration, Teacher Professional Learning and lastly The Teacher Disposition.
• Look at the two teachers in the pictures below. What does picture A show of the teacher?
What about picture B?
The picture A shows the traditional way of teaching while the picture B shows the modern way of
teaching.
• Who is better equipped to handle the 21st century learners? Teacher A or Teacher B?
Why? Which of the two teachers would you like to become when you graduate? Why?
I prefer picture B, the modern way of teaching. We are now in the 21 st century in which both learners
and teachers are exposed in technology, so we must adapt the easiest way of learning.

2. I left the value of being undatable to a changing world. I understand that being open and flexible in
the face of changing technology is crucial. I've embraced the attitude of curiosity – being eager to
explore and learn about new digital tools and concepts. This mindset keeps me engaged and ready to
embrace new advancements. I also developed an appreciation for patience. Learning and mastering
technology skills might take time, but with patience, I can overcome challenges and improve.
3. I've developed the skill of efficient digital navigation, including problem-solving, digital
communication, and responsible online conduct. These skills empower me to excel in the modern
digital landscape.
