19. Point out physiological factors for Speed. (½×4=2)
Ans. Speed is defined as the maximal speed that can be reached by part or all of the body. Basically it is the
rate of successive movements of the body. It is the ability of the body to perform similar movements
consecutively at the fastest rate.
There are following Physiological factors that determine the speed:
(a) Nervous system and its mobility: To generate more speed the muscles have to contract and relax
at maximal speed. These actions are possible when motor impulses from Central Nervous System
initiates.
(b) Composition of muscle fibers: Skeletal muscle is made up of bundles of individual muscle fibers.
These fibers contain many myofibrils. Muscle fibers can be broken down into two types.
(i) Slow twitch muscle fibers
(ii) Fast twitch muscle fibers
(c) Flexibility: Flexibility is referred as range of movement around the joints. Every individual has
different level of flexibility.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION CLASS-XII 4
(d) Phosphogen stores: To exhibit speed performance muscles need high amount of energy. The
amount of the phosphogen stores in the muscle determines the speed movement.
20. Write short note on Exercise Adherence. (1+1=2)
Ans. Exercise adherence is to maintain an active involvement in physical exercise over a long period of time. It
is well known that the people who have strong exercise adherence continue participating in physical
activity despite opportunities and pressures to withdraw. Generally stick to a fitness program is known
as exercise adherence.
21. Differentiate between Talent Identification and Talent Development. (1+1=2)

their potential.
22. List down any four immediate effects of exercise on the respiratory system. (½×4=2)
Ans. l Respiratory rate increases: During the exercise the increased demand of oxygen increases the rate
of breathing. The normal respiration rate of an adult at rest is 12 to 20 breaths per minute. During
exercise it increases to 40 breaths per minute.
l Tidal volume increases: The amount of air inhaled and exhaled in one breath is known as tidal
volume. Tidal volume increases as a result of exercise to take in more oxygen and remove carbon
dioxide from our body.
l Rate of exchange of gas increases: Regular exercise increases the rate of exchange of gas in lungs.

35. Make a table of test items listed Johnson- Metheny Test of Motor Educability and explain in details about
all test items. (1+2+2=5)
Ans. Johnson-Metheny test is used to measure Motor Educability.
HISTORY OF THE TEST
In 1932, Granville B. Johnson, presented a simple test to be used for sectioning classes into
homogeneous units. Out of an experimental battery of one hundred exercises, ten were selected for the
final battery, though Johnson did not state on what basis the final ten were chosen. In 1938, Eleanor
Metheny presented a revised version of the Johnson Educability Test. Metheny while studying the
Johnson Test found that only four stunts correlated highly with the total Johnson score.
By the elimination of the six motor stunts from the Johnson Test, Metheny modified the mat area used in
the Johnson Test. She suggested the use of the following four test items performed on a modified mat
pattern: front roll, back roll, jumping half turns and jumping full turns for boys and front roll, back roll,
and jumping half turns for girls.
This revision gave birth to a new test battery known-as Metheny Johnson Motor Educability Test (also
known as Johnson Metheny Motor Educability Test).
MAT AREA
2. Back Roll (Backward Roll): The test is similar to front roll both in performing and scoring. Start
with feet outside of chart. Perform two back rolls, one on each half of the lane.
3. Jumping Half Turn: The subject starts with the feet on the first three-inch line. He then jumps with
both feet to the second three-inch line, executing a halfturn either right or left. He then jumps to the
third three-inch line, executing a half turn in the opposite direction.
Scoring: Perfect execution of four jumps is worth ten points. Only 2 points are deducted for each
wrong jump when the subject either does not land with both feet on the 3” line or turns the wrong
way or both.
4. Jumping Full Turn: The subject starts with the feet outside the chart at about the center of the lane.
He jumps to the second rectangular space, executing a full turn with the body either right or left.
Scoring: Perfect execution of five jumps is worth ten points. Two points are deducted, if the subject
fails to keep balance on landing on both feet; turns too far or oversteps the squares.
36. How does inclusive education in physical education help integration of CWSN in society? (1+2+2=5)
Ans. Inclusion - Its Needs And Implication: Inclusion in education refers to a model wherein CWSN spend
most or all of their time with students with non-special needs. It is based on the notion that Inclusive
Education is more effective for students with special needs since they get a mixed experience.
Need For Inclusive Education:
1. Builds Self Esteem: Inclusive classrooms are filled with diverse learners. This lets kids observe and
talk about diverse learning patterns and the manner in which everyone learns in their own way.
2. Improves Social and Communication Skills: Inclusive education provides ample opportunities
for all students – students with disabilities and those without disabilities – to have better social
relations amongst themselves.
3. Enhances Sensitivity: It has been noted that students without disabilities become more sensitive if
they study in a classroom where they have students with special needs.
4. Creates Better Understanding and Appreciation of others: In an inclusive classroom, students
with or without special needs understand and appreciate the strengths and weaknesses of their
classmates.
5. Creates a Sense of Belonging: All children are able to be part of a community and develop a sense of
belonging.
6. Enhances Academic Performance: Inclusive education leads to better academic performance
than in exclusive education.
7. Improves Performance: Since the expectations of all the children are higher in a mixed abilities
classroom, inclusion attempts to develop an individual’s strengths and gifts by stretching each
individual to optimal performance.
Implementation of Inclusive Education in India: It is important to implement inclusive education in
India not only to provide benefits of inclusion to all individuals but also to ensure optimal utilisation of
resources.
1. Ensuring effective implementation of the Right to Education in all states so that no child is left out of
the ambit of education so that we are able to take care of the needs of CWSN.
2. Equipping teachers, especially in rural areas, through appropriate training and in-service
workshops to teach CWSN in an inclusive classroom.
3. Developing a support team through regular analysis of schools, curriculum and amenities in order
to give access to the regular curriculum methods to children with difficulties in learning.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION CLASS-XII 12
4. Encouraging a flexible approach towards curriculum transaction whereby teachers and students
are able to diagnose and resolve the problems that they face during the teaching learning process.
5. Involving parents as partners and as a resource in the decision-making process for enhancing their
child's learning so that a collaborative effort results in effective inclusive education.
6. Looking at all children at what they can do rather than what they cannot do. It is important for the
student’s self-esteem that a child with special needs is not looked at with sympathy, but is
recognised for his talents, capabilities and abilities.
7. Designing schools and classes in ways that help children learn and achieve to their fullest potential.
Enrolling of CWSN in regular schools requires a lot of adjustments in terms of classrooms, transport
facilities and educational materials and assistive devices such as audio textbooks, etc.
8. Making sincere efforts to develop good relations and understanding between families of students
with disabilities and without disabilities. In this way, all students will also develop good relations
among themselves and thereby create an appropriate environment for implementing inclusive
education.
37. What is Female Athlete Triad. Explain in detail. (3+2=5)
Ans. Female Athlete Triad became apparent in 1990. It was considered that it is associated with disordered
eating, secondary amenorrhea and bone mineral disorder. In 1992 American College of Sports Medicine
made a report on Athlete Triad. These disorders can lead to diminishing of physical performance and
cause of morbidity or mortality. It was suggested that imparting of knowledge of Athlete Triad can
minimize the health hazards associated with it. Sports pressure put the athlete’s health at risk and leads
to Female Athlete Triad.
