Welcome to the TLE 9 Beauty Care – Nail Care Services Module 3 Identify Tools,
Cosmetics, Supplies, Equipment in Nail Art, First Edition, 2020

This Self-Learning Module was collaboratively designed, developed and


reviewed by educators from the Schools Division Office of Pasig City headed by its
Officer-in-Charge Schools Division Superintendent, Ma. Evalou Concepcion A.
Agustin, in partnership with the City Government of Pasig through its mayor,
Honorable Victor Ma. Regis N. Sotto. The writers utilized the standards set by the K
to 12 Curriculum using the Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELC) in
developing this instructional resource.

This learning material hopes to engage the learners in guided and independent
learning activities at their own pace and time. Further, this also aims to help learners
acquire the needed 21st century skills especially the 5 Cs, namely: Communication,
Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking, and Character while taking into

LESSON

Basic Nail Art Tools and Supplies

1. Nail art pens

Ideal tools for drawing and are specifically


designed to paint fine strokes, dots or patterns
on the nail surface.

2. Nail dotters

They help in creating dots, circles and some easy


nail designs. They usually come in different sizes.

Do not use too much pressure that may


cause the dots to look deformed. Clean them
after use and dry them thoroughly. These tools are made of metal and
susceptible to rusting.
3. Nail polishes
a. Base coat – applied before colored polish to protect the nail from the
nail
discoloration
white or platinum can be used as the base coat
b. Nail polish or colored enamel – used to give color to the nail
c. Top coat – applied after the colored polish to protect from chipping or
cracking

4. Nail Striper

Nail polish come with a long, thin brush rather than the
usual flat and broad ones. It is used for painting lines and
adding random flicks of color.
Use acetone, water with soap and a paper towel to clean
your nail brush if you have used nail polish.

5. Stationery tape
It is used in creating super neat straight lines
and stripes. They’re great for creating neat
lines and geometric shapes. Cut the tape into
the desired shape and paste it onto your nail
and paint over. It is advisable to use a tweezer
in removing the tape to prevent accidentally messing up your nails.

6. Nail Art Brushes

The main types of brushes for nail art: fan-


shaped brushes flat brushes flat angled
brushes thin brushes (for detail) and long
stripers.
