Titanic is a 1997 American disaster drama film directed and written by James

Cameron, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet, Billy Zane, Kay Starring Sy

Bates, Gloria Stewart, and Bill Paxton. 23 The plot is an epic romance, 34 tells

the story of Jack Dawson In April 1912, during the maiden voyage of the Titanic

from Southampton (UK) to New York (USA), two young men meet on the

Titanic and they fall in love. They belong to different social classes and fight to

get ahead despite the adversities that will separate them forever, including Rose's

fiancé, Caledon "Carl" Hockley (she does not love a rich man, but her mother

forces her to be with him for assuring him a life). prosperous economic future)

and the sinking of the ship after colliding with an iceberg. Cameron was

fascinated by the Titanic story, and his interest increased when he met Robert

Ballard,10 the oceanographer who discovered the wreck in 1985,11 during the

making of the Abyss. 10 The filmmakers sought Hollywood sponsors for the

expeditions to the ship's docks, but have not yet planned to make a film about the

events. 12 Later, he wrote a sketch for a film about the sinking of the Titanic,13

and presented it to executives at 20th Century Fox,14 who gave the project a

“green light” even though they were less convinced that it would achieve

success. . Cameron didn't start writing the script until he had recorded the

wreckage and carefully studied every historical figure and passenger on board,

because he wanted to honor all those who died in the disaster. Fox invested $57

million dollars on production

Ship crash and sinking

As night fell, the couple took advantage of Cal's absence (he was in the smoking

room) to head to their cabin. There, Rose unexpectedly asks him to paint her

nude with the Heart of the Ocean around her neck, a diamond Carl had

previously given her. Jack accepted, a little nervous at first, and just when he had

finished and everyone was looking at the image, Lovejoy called out to the young

woman from outside the cabin and they decided to run away. After making their

way through the ship's corridors and elevator, the pair reach the boiler rooms and

through them, eventually finding a small compartment that stores some vehicles

and another, larger passenger cargo. Once they choose to get into one of the

vehicles, they make love, then escape again after several officers, after a briefing

from Lovejoy and Carl, manage to find them there. They returned to the deck,

where the Iceberg Lookout lookouts were watching them. After some time,

Frederick Fleet (Scott Anderson Scott Anderson) saw a large piece of ice in the

dark a few meters from the Titanic, so he immediately rang the bell to warn

others that they had seen the iceberg. Officer James Moody (Edward Fletcher)

responds to the notification and informs William Murdoch (Evan Stewart) that

the ship's co-pilot has ordered in the absence of Captain Smith -who had retired

minutes before and rested in his cabin- to steer the ship and avoid the iceberg.

Despite his last-minute attempts to steer the liner, the ship collided with an

iceberg on the starboard side, causing a series of hull breaches through which the

lower compartments began to flood. After a strong impact, since the third class

cabin began to flood.

Final
Rosa Sr. revealed that of the 1,500 people who lost the boat, only six were

successfully rescued from the water, including himself. She also spoke of

minutes after her rescue when she and other survivors of the shipwreck were

brought aboard the RMS Carpathia. There she nearly ran into Carl again, but

avoided meeting him, now pointing out that it was the last time she saw him (she

later discovered that the rich man was about to commit suicide after the 1929

New York Stock Exchange crash) in York. . at the time that would have caused

the Great Depression). The Carpathians finally reached New York on April 18,

1912, when Rose found the Heart of the Sea in her coat pocket, just feet from the

Statue of Liberty. Seconds later, when the officer asked for her name to search

her, she identified herself as Jack's last name, Rose Dawson. However, the

elderly Rose would not comment on the diamond, so Lovett was unaware that

she still had it. And so his story ended, and the Keldis members who heard his

anecdote were moved to tears. Among them were Lovett and his granddaughter

Lizzie. Rose tossed the Heart of the Sea over Keldish's stern into the sea

unnoticed before returning to her cabin for the night. Before the final

cancellation, the elderly Rose is seen lying in bed with her eyes closed next to a

series of photographs of her as a young woman after the Titanic sank. Seconds

later, the footage of the wreck changes to the luxury ship being restored to the

way it appeared on the first voyage, and Rose is seen walking through the halls

until she reaches the bell tower, where she is ecstatic. Everyone who died in the

disaster, including Jack. When the couple kisses, everyone claps and the

recording ends.
Production
James Cameron was so fascinated by shipwrecks that he described the Titanic as

"the Everest of shipwrecks." His interest in the liner grew when he met

researcher Robert Ballard, who discovered the wreck in 1985. 11 This meeting

took place during the production of The Abyss 10 directed by Cameron. 87 The

latter decided to undertake an underwater expedition, saying that he was still

"mentally disturbed" by the life he had rejected when he decided to trade science

for art at university. So when it came time to make an IMAX movie of the wreck,

he decided to find a sponsor in Hollywood "to pay for the expedition and do the

same [filming the wreck]." "It wasn't that I wanted to make a movie [...but] I

wanted to drag myself into an accident."12

Cameron wrote a sketch13 for a Titanic film, then turned to production

executives at 20th Century Fox and pitched his story as "Romeo and Juliet on the

Titanic." There was a brief silence at the 1488 meeting and Cameron added:

"Also, guys, it's a historical film, it's going to cost $150 million and there won't

be a sequel... [the filmmakers later commented on this] They're like,

'Ooooookaaaaaay "A tape? A three-hour romantic epic? This, of course, is what

we want. Is it going to be a little Terminator? Any crazy stuff, shootings or car

chases? I said, 'No, no, no. No.' wants none of them."" 50 43 Studios "wasn't

entirely sure how successful Titanic would be," but gave the project a "green

light" in the absence of other major productions. In the summer of 1997, he

wanted to "secure a long-term relationship with the director" 1550.
