UNIT 9: CITIES OF THE WORLD


LESSON 4 (P.30,31) – Communication

I. Objectives:
1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
- Use everyday English phrases and expressions to develop their language skills.
- Express surprise, appreciation, admiration or strong feelings/ reactions about something by
using exclamations with What.
- Recognize and have knowledge about some famous landmarks in big cities through
description.
2. Ability
- To encourage Ss to take part in all classroom activities.
- To improve reading and speaking skills.
II. Languages contents and skills
- Vocabulary: use the words related to cities and landmarks.
- Skill:
+ Getting information from the text.
+ Learning speaking from given examples and working in pairs or groups.
- III. Method: integrated, co-operative learning, mainly communicative approach.
IV. Techniques: individual work, pair work, group work, repetition, explanation, asking-
answering, ….
V. Teaching aids: a board, hand-outs, text books, protector/TV, notebook, lesson plan,
laptop, paper, markers, …
VI. Procedure:

Warm up Aims: to help Ss get interested in and brainstorm the
(6 minutes) topic relating a new lesson.
- T divides class into 4 groups.
- T introduce game “Emojis Code”
- Ss listen to T

- T says the rule: T will give Ss a code, your job is to


decode it. Each emoji is one letter.

- T shows an example: 😝 🤫 🙁 🙁 🤕 and answer is 😝: H :E

- T gives a code for each group and tell them to transfer - Ss play game
the code as fast as possible. When you finish, write
your answer on the board (If correct, the first fastest
team gets 4 points, the second one gets 3 points, the
third one gets 2 points and the last one gets 1 point)
