Learning Objectives

By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to interact with friends by using suitable words to show understanding and

C By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to listen and respond to at least two longer supported questions correctly.

1. Ask pupils to name other food words that they have learnt or that they know.
Pre-lesson
2. Write pupils’ responses on the board in bubble map form.
3. Activity 1:
a. Grammar box: Read the sentences out loud.
b. Ask pupils to tell you what the verbs in the two columns are followed by.
c. Point out to pupils that want/need can be followed by the full infinitive of a verb, as in the first column,
or they can be followed by a noun, as in the second column.
4. Activity 2:
a. Direct pupils attention to the picture and elicit what they can see. (Act 3 SB pg 49)
b. Play CD track 72 and have pupils chorally repeat the exchange.
Lesson delivery
c. In pairs, pupils look at the picture and take turns choosing foods and naming the ingredients.
5. Activity 3:
a. Have pupils re-do the activity but this time they should change the ingredient to confuse their partner.
b. Their partner should ask for clarification, e.g. Omelette: eggs and chocolate: Sorry, did you say
chocolate? (Assessment)
c. Have pupils talk to their partner about ingredients needed for other dishes they like.
d. Monitor carefully and provide relevant vocabulary if needed.
e. Have pairs of pupils do the activity in front of the rest of the class.

Post lesson 6. Play the song again and have pupils sing along.
