POWER POINT
1. What is Presentation? What are its uses?
Ans. Microsoft PowerPoint helps to develop dynamic, easy to create, professional presentations. It
can be used to create and organize slide shows, speaker notes, handouts. It is used by teachers and
trainers to make the lecture presentations. It is used in the corporate sector to present project plans
and strategies. It improves the presentations with pictures, sound effects, tables and charts.
Ans. PowerPoint consists of different views to help in the creation and presentation of slides. The
views are Normal View, Slide Sorter View, Notes Page and Slide show.
Normal View
It is the default view where one can write and design presentation. It has four working areas:
Outline tab, Slides tab, Slide pane, Notes pane. In Outline tab it displays small images called
thumbnails. Slides tab shows all the text on the slides. Slide pane shows the currently selected
slide. Notes pane is used for entering notes about the current slide.
It displays the thumbnails of all the slides in the presentation. It allows to sort, move, add and
Notes Page

Ans. Slide layouts in PowerPoint determine which content placeholders appear in a slide.
They also determine where they are placed. To change the placeholders in a slide, you
can apply a new slide layout to it. When you apply a slide layout, you determine which
placeholders appear in the slide. You can also reset a selected slide’s layout back
Slide layouts contain formatting, positioning, and placeholder boxes for all of the

Many presenters like to add animation to make their presentations more dynamic.
There are four types of animations that can be applied: an entrance effect, emphasis
effect, an exit effect, and a motion path effect. Each of these effects have numerous
Entrance Effect
The entrance effect tells PowerPoint how the item will appear in the presentation. By
default, all images, graphs and other graphic items simply appear in the slide. However,
by applying an entrance effect, the user can control not only how the item appears, but
also when. This allows the presenter to display graphical items before, during or after
Emphasis Effect
Sometimes presenters like to have an image change once it is in the slide. These
changes can include having the object grow, shrink, fade, change colors, change fonts,
become transparent or blink. This gives the benefit of emphasizing a point while
speaking, and also adds some pizzazz to the presentation. For example, you can use the
Exit Effect
The exit effect is essentially how an animation leaves the screen. Presenters often use
exit effects in conjunction with entrance effects to have an item disappear in tandem as
another object is appearing. Some exit effects can be subtle, like simply disappearing,
while other effects can be more exciting, like spiraling out or bouncing off the screen.
