Lesson 2 - COMMITTED

Bible Memory Verse :

“Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to
pass.”
(Psalm 37 : 5), (Romans 12 : 1-2)

WHAT IS COMMITMENT?
Commitment is a determination or promise that is embedded in our hearts and
minds. There are 2 important words in commitment, namely sincerely and
continuously. Truly believe and accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour. Then surrender or
depend on God by following God's way in good times and bad. True commitment is
based on faith and the knowledge of God. Believing that God is in control of
everything. Therefore, we give ourselves to be led or controlled by God throughout
our lives.

WHAT SHOULD WE BE COMMITTED TO?

We should be committed in all aspects of our life journey. Just like the Psalmist
David committed to God no matter what happened in his life, he entrusted his life to
God. He was committed to glorifying God while he was still alive (cf. Psalm 104:33).
Besides David, we can also see some examples in the Bible of committed people:
1. Noah was committed to build the ark exactly as God commanded (Gen. 6:22).
2. Joshua was committed to the worship of God (Joshua 24:15).
3. Ezra was committed to learning and practicing God's Word (Ezra 7:10)
4. Daniel was committed to praying to God (Daniel 6:11)
5. Jesus' disciples were committed to preaching the gospel (Matthew 28:19-20)
6. Apostle Paul is committed to offering his life to serve God (Romans 12: 1-2)

WHAT ARE THE CHARACTERISTICS OF A COMMITTED PERSON?

 Keep trusting God in all circumstances.
 Remain faithful to the end.
 Have a struggle spirit and don't give up easily.

WHAT IS GOD'S PROMISE FOR THOSE WHO COMMIT?

He shall bring it to pass, meaning that God will provide a way out so that we can
overcome various challenges. God will give success to people who are truly
committed. God will bless everyone who trusts in God.

Questions to meditate!
 Are you committed in your daily life?
 In what areas are you committed?
 In what areas are you not committed?
These words of God encourage us to be more committed to doing our part, because
without commitment we cannot grow and bear fruit. Commitment helps us become
more independent and have a firm stand. We are not easily swayed by
circumstances. Be a person who has a strong commitment in the Lord. Amen.
