Allah means literally "the God" in Arabic.

Prophet Muhammad pbuh was from lineage of Prophet Abraham/Ibrahim pbuh. Kindly check:
( [Link] )
He belonged to the family who were the custodians of Ka'bah which had 360 idols in it at the time.
He was from a few people called "hanif" these people believed in one creator and did not worship
idols.
He was known as "al-sadiq"(the truthful) and "al-amin"(the trustowrthy) by people of Makkah years
before he became a Prophet.
When first revelation came to the Prophet PBUH and he said to his wife Khadija(r.a):
"I fear that something may happen to me.” She replied, “Never! By Allah, Allah will never disgrace
you. You keep good relations with your Kith and kin, help the poor and the destitute, serve your
guests generously and assist the deserving calamity-afflicted ones."

pbuh means "peace be upon him" used by All muslims after we take name of any of Prophets.

Muslim : a person who submits to one God & follows his prophets.

Islam has 2 meanings "peace" & "submission to one God".

Pillars of Islam are:

1-Belief in one God, and belief that Prophet Muhammad pbuh is his last & final messenger.
2-Praying 5 times a day
3-Fasting in month of Ramadhan(for 30 days), from sunrise till sunset
4-Giving zakat(obligatory charity) to those in need, firstly close relatives, then neighbors than other
people. this is for those who are rich.
5-Hajj(pilgrimage) to Makkah at least once in a life time, again this is for those who can afford.

Now these are the pillars of Islam, the rest of building standing on this pillar includes:
(1)Jihad
No I am not talking about al-qaeda or isis,
Jihad means to "strive" or "struggle".

*Types of Jihad:-

1-Jihad of the heart (jihad bil qalb/nafs) is concerned with combating the devil and in the attempt to
escape his persuasion to evil. This type of Jihad was regarded as the greater jihad (al-jihad al-
akbar).
2-Jihad by the tongue (jihad bil lisan) (also Jihad by the word, jihad al-qalam) is concerned with
speaking the truth and justice and spreading the word of Islam with one's tongue.
3-Jihad by the hand (jihad bil yad) refers to choosing to do what is right and to combat injustice and
what is wrong with action.
4-Jihad by the sword (jihad bis saif) refers to qital fi sabilillah (armed fighting), against injustice and
oppression whether it be against muslims or [Link] as what is happening now in
Syria,Burma,Kashmir.

*What Prophet Muhammad pbuh said about Jihad:-

-"The best Jihad is the word of Justice in front of the oppressive sultan(king)".
(cited by Ibn Nuhaas and narrated by Ibn Habbaan)
-“Whosoever of you sees an evil, let him change it with his hand; and if he is not able to do so, then
[let him change it] with his tongue; and if he is not able to do so, then with his heart — and that is the
weakest of faith.”
[Muslim]

None of these mean terrorism, and those who manipulate God's word will be asked on day of
judgement.

2-Justice
-Pre-Islamic arabia had no justice whatsoever, there were no rights of women, there was looting &
killing, there was no [Link] people were certainly not welcomed in [Link] Muhammad
pbuh belonged to a high household hence he was [Link] used to eat up property of orphans
and widows.
Prophet Muhammad pbuh came with the message of justice by saying:
-“God commands justice and fair dealing...” (Quran 16:90)

-“And approach not the property of the orphan except in the fairest way, until he [or she] attains the
age of full strength, and give measurement and weight with justice…” (Quran 6:152, also see 89:17,
93:9, and 107:2)

-"Guard yourself from oppression, for oppression will be darkness on the Day of Resurrection. Guard
yourself from greed, for greed destroyed those before you. It caused them to shed blood and to
make lawful what was unlawful. "
(Source: Sahih Muslim 2578, Grade: Sahih(authentic) )

-"Beware of the supplication of the oppressed, even if he is an unbeliever, for there is no screen
between it and Allah. "
(Source: Musnad Ahmad 12140, Grade: Sahih)

hence no oppression can be done by a Muslim against another muslim or even a non-muslim.
Who is saying that? Prophet Muhammad pbuh.

-"Do not let yourselves become blind followers, saying that if the people are good then we will be
good, and if they are unjust then we will be unjust. Rather, make up your own minds. If the people
are good then be good, but if they are evil then do not be unjust. "
(Source: Sunan At-Tirmidhi 2007, Grade: Hasan)

Islam makes a person fearless in front of injustice & evil, the biggest example is Prophet
Muhammad pbuh himself and his grandson Hussain(r.a) who stood against a tyrant
ruler, got martyred, but never surrendered. Hussain(r.a) did not go and pick up sword,
instead he refused from accepting Yazid(a tyrant ruler) as the caliph and did not give
allegiance to [Link] in return attacked the grandson of Prophet Muhammad pbuh.
-"We ordained for them therein a life for a life, an eye for an eye, a nose for a nose, an ear for an
ear, a tooth for a tooth, and for wounds is legal retribution. But whoever gives up his right as charity,
it is expiation for him. "
(Surat Al-Mai’dah 5:45)

-"When Allah decreed the creation, He wrote in His Book which is with Him on His Throne: My mercy
prevails over My wrath. "
(Source: Sahih Bukhari 3022, Grade: Sahih)
Therefore, we must stand for justice for all people and the fulfillment of their rights, but we should
stand for mercy when injustice is committed against us and our rights are violated.

3-Tolerance
-“Be tolerant and you will receive tolerance.”
(Source: Musnad Aḥmad 2233 ,Grade: Sahih (authentic) )

- “Allah Almighty will admit a man into Paradise who was easy in his buying and selling, in his paying
debts and seeking repayments.”
(Source: Sunan al-Nasā’ī 4696, Grade: Sahih (authentic) )

-"Make things easy and do not make things difficult. Give glad tidings and do not repel people.
Cooperate with each other and do not become divided. "
(Source: Sahih Bukhari 2873)

-"Teach others, make things easy, and do not make things difficult. When one of you is angry, he
should remain silent. "
(Source: Musnad Ahmad 2137, Grade: Sahih)

-"The angels received the soul of a man who lived before you. They said: Have you done anything
good? The man said no. They said: Try to remember. The man said: I used to give loans and I would
order my servants to be lenient with those in difficulty and to give relief even to those who could
repay. Allah the Exalted said: Thus, you will be relieved. "
(Source: Sahih Bukhari 1971)

-"It is reported that a funeral of a Jew passed before the Prophet (peace be upon him). As a sign of
respect, the Prophet stood up. The Prophet was asked “Why did you stand up for a Jewish funeral?”
The Prophet replied, “Is it not a human soul?”
(Al-Bukhari).

Islam & Prophet Muhammad pbuh taught tolerance towards everyone!

4-Rights of animals
-“Whoever is merciful even to a sparrow, Allah will be merciful to him on the Day of Judgment.”

-“A good deed done to an animal is like a good deed done to a human being, while an act of cruelty
to an animal is as bad as cruelty to a human being.”
-Prophet Muhammad pbuh once passed by a camel that was so emaciated that its back had almost
reached its stomach. He said, “Fear Allah in these beasts who cannot speak.” (Abu Dawud)
-The Companions said,”O Allah’s Messenger! Is there a reward for us in serving the animals?” He
replied: “There is a reward for serving any living being.” (Bukhari)

-A group of Companions were once on a journey with the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant
him peace, and he left them for a while. During his absence, they saw a bird with its two young, and
they took the young ones from the nest. The mother bird was circling above in the air, beating its
wings in grief, when the Prophet came back. He said, “Who has hurt the feelings of this bird by
taking its young? Return them to her.” (Muslim)

In Islam, hunting for sport is prohibited. Muslims may only hunt as is needed to meet their
requirements for food. This was common during the time of the Prophet Muhammad, and he
condemned it at every opportunity.

5-Rights of Women
Women were treated worse than animals in pre-islamic [Link] had absolutely no rights and
fathers would bury their daughters alive.
Islam came to end this.
Women were given rights & protection 1400 years ago by Prophet Muhammad pbuh:
--
“O mankind! Fear your Lord Who (initiated) your creation from a single soul, then from it created its
mate, and from these two spread (the creation of) countless men and women.”
(al-Qur’an, 4:1)
This Verse clearly expounds that man or woman are created from a single entity and are basically
equal genders. As a gender, one is not superior to the other.
-“And according to usage, women too have rights over men similar to the rights of men over
women.”
(al-Qur’an, 2:228)

-“Men, however, have an advantage over them.”

(al-Qur’an, 2:228)
Here the Qur’an refers to man’s superiority by virtue of his responsibility of protection and
maintenance of woman and fulfillment of their rights. Nature has made him stronger, more
responsible and tolerant with reference to mundane matters of life. So man is held superior to
woman in the grade of responsibility.
Social and societal structure of Islam is based on family system which can be secure if made
subservient to natural discipline:
-“Men are guardians and managers over women.”
(al-Qur’an, 4:34)

-At the time of Prophet Muhammad pbuh, a woman came to him and said,
“My father has married me to my cousin to raise his social standing and I was forced into it.”
The Prophet sent for the girl’s father and then in his presence gave the girl the option of remaining
married or nullifying the marriage. She responded, “O Messenger of Allah, I have accepted what my
father did, but I wanted to show other women (that they could not be forced into a marriage).”

There is no force/compulsion in Islam as seen from above narration & also from Quran:

-"There is no compulsion in religion"(Quran 2 : 256)

-"And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. For
what sin she was killed?"
(Quran 81 : 8 & 9)

_"(Whoever works righteousness, whether male or female, while he (or she) is a true believer verily,
to him We will give a good life, and We shall pay them certainly a reward in proportion to the best of
what they used to do (i.e. Paradise in the Hereafter)."
[Quran Al Nahl, 97]

While arabians used to bury their daughters alive, Prophet Muhammad pbuh was inspired by God to
say:
-"There is no one who has three daughters, or three sisters, and he treats them well, but Allah will
admit him/her to Paradise. "
[Tirmidhi, Al Nasaee, Abu Dawod , and Ibn Majah]

-"Only an honorable man treats women with honor and integrity. And only a mean man humiliates
women. "
[Ibn Asaker, Al Jame’e Al Sagheer]
-"The best of you is the best for his family and I am the best for my family "
[Tirmizi, Ibn Majah, and Darami]
-The Prophet PBUH was used to be bright-faced and smiling when entering his house, and He
described women by saying:
"They are the precious and the source of pleasure"

6-Orphans
-“The one who cares for an orphan and myself will be together in Paradise like this,” and he held his
two fingers together to illustrate.
(Source: Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 5659 Grade: Sahih (authentic) )

For us muslims nothing can be greater than being close to Prophet Muhammad pbuh.

-“Whoever embraces an orphan of two Muslim parents by feeding him and giving him drink until he
is independent of him, Paradise will certainly be necessary for him.”
(Source: Musnad Aḥmad 19855)

-“O Sa’ib, look at the character of your deeds in the time of ignorance and continue them in Islam:
honor the guest, be generous to the orphan, and be good to your neighbor.”
(Source: Musnad Aḥmad 15074)

-“It is preferred to give charity to the righteous, people of goodness, virtue, and those in need, but it
is permissible for you to give charity to a sinner or a disbeliever among the Jews, Christians, or
Magians and, in general, there will be a reward for it.
The same applies regarding someone at war with the Muslims, and the proof for that is the saying of
Allah the Exalted:
"They give food, despite their love for it, to the poor, the orphans, and the captives"(Quran 76:8),
and it is know that the captive is someone who is a combatant.”
-“The best house among the Muslims is the one in which an orphan is treated well. The worst house
among the Muslims is the one in which an orphan is treated badly. The one who cares for an orphan
and myself will be in Paradise like this,” and he held his two fingers together."
(Source: al-Adab al-Mufrad 137 Grade: Hasan (fair) )

-“If you want to soften your heart, then feed the poor and pat the head of the orphan.”
(Source: Musnad Aḥmad 7522 Grade: Hasan (fair) )

7-Non-Muslims in Muslim countries & relations with non-muslims:

-"Beware! Whoever is cruel and hard on a non-Muslim minority, curtails their rights, burdens them
with more than they can bear, or takes anything from them against their free will; I (Prophet
Muhammad) will complain against the person on the Day of Judgment."
(Abu Dawud)

-"There is no compulsion in religion…" (Quran 2:256)

Hence no one can force anyone to accept or practice Islam.
I have christian neighbors in Pakistan, and we love each other.

-“And We have sent you (O Muhammad) not but as a mercy for the ‘Alameen (mankind, jinns and all
that exists)”
[Quran al-Anbiya’ 21:107]

-“And We have enjoined on man (to be dutiful and good) to his parents. His mother bore him in
weakness and hardship upon weakness and hardship, and his weaning is in two years give thanks
to Me and to your parents, unto Me is the final destination.
But if they (both) strive with you to make you join in worship with Me others that of which you have
no knowledge, then obey them not, but behave with them in the world kindly, and follow the path of
him who turns to Me in repentance and in obedience. Then to Me will be your return, and I shall tell
you what you used to do”
[Quran, 31:14-15].
Islam advises us to treat neighbours kindly, even if they are not Muslim.

-“Allah does not forbid you to deal justly and kindly with those who fought not against you on account
of religion and did not drive you out of your homes. Verily, Allah loves those who deal with equity”
[Quran 60:8].

-“and let not the enmity and hatred of others make you avoid justice. Be just: that is nearer to piety”
[Quran 5:8]

-"O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you”INTO
NATIONS AND TRIBES” that ye may know each other (not that ye may despise (each other). Verily
the most honoured of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the ”MOST RIGHTEOUS OF YOU” .
And Allah has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things).
[Quran 49:13]

one of my favorite verses from Quran ^.Just see the universality of this verse.

-There were almost 19 jewish tribes in Arabia out of which only four of them broke the treaty with
Prophet Muhammad pbuh and attacked muslims, directly & indirectly.
the tribes were:
Banu Harith or Bnei Chorath
Banu Qaynuqa
Banu Shutayba
Jafna Clan of the Banu Tha'laba who were exiled members of the Banu Ghassan - while both tribes
were not Jewish, they did have Jewish members; whereas the Jafna Clan was solely Jewish
Banu Zaura
Banu Zurayq
Banu Quda'a — Himyarite tribe of converts to Sadducee Judaism
Banu Qurayza — sub-clan of the al-Kāhinān, located in Yathrib (Medina)
Banu Nadir — sub-clan of the al-Kāhinān, located in Yathrib (Medina)
Banu Juw — sub-clan of the Banu Qaynuqa

-Rabbi Mukhariyq, a Jew who fought along with Muslims against idolaters of makkah in defence of
Madina.

-Jawn bin Huwai, a christian slave of Hussain(r.a) grandson of Prophet Muhammad [Link] his
life defending Hussain(r.a) despite Hussain(r.a) asking him to leave the battle field.

-Jews & Christians are regarded as Ahlul-kitab(People of the book) and not just kafir(unbelievers)
hence they are closer to Muslims than other communities.
Allah says in Quran :
"Mankind was one single nation, and Allah sent Messengers with glad tidings and warnings; and with
them He sent the Book in truth, to judge between people in matters wherein they differed; but the
People of the Book, after the clear Signs came to them, did not differ among themselves, except
through selfish contumacy. Allah by His Grace guided the believers to the Truth, concerning that
wherein they differed. For Allah guided whom He wills to a path that is straight."
(Quran 2:213)

- "The same religion He has established for you as that which He enjoined on Noah - the which We
have sent by inspiration to thee - and that which We enjoined on Abraham, Moses, and Jesus:
Namely, that you should remain steadfast in religion, and make no divisions therein: to those who
worship other things than Allah, hard is the (way) to which you call them. Allah chooses to Himself
those whom He pleases, and guides to Himself those who turn (to Him).
(Quran 42:13)

What today is Christanity,Judaism and possibly others faiths as well, were once Islam, according to
belief of us Muslims, but now they have been corrupted from the reality.

8-Compassion
-“A servant has failed and lost if Allah has not placed mercy in his heart towards humanity.”
(Source: Tārīkh Dimashq 19863 Grade: Hasan (fair) )

-“The basis of reasoning, after faith in Allah, is loving kindness towards people.”
(Source: al-Mu’jam al-Awsaṭ 6067 Grade: Hasan )

-"Whoever guides someone to goodness will have a similar reward".

(Sahih Muslim)

-Abu Hurairah relates that the Holy Prophet said: Allah will say to his servant when He will be taking
account of him on the Day of Judgment, ‘O’ son of Adam, I was hungry and you did not feed me.’ He
will answer: ‘How could I feed you? You are the Lord of the worlds!’ He will say: ‘Did you not know
that my servant so and so who is the son of so and so felt hunger, and you did not feed him. Alas,
had you fed him you would have found that (i.e. reward) with Me.’ ‘O’ son of Adam, I was thirsty and
you gave Me nothing to drink.’ He will reply: ‘How could I give You drink? You are the Lord of the
worlds!’ He will say: ‘Did you not know that my servant so and so, the son of so and so was thirsty
and you did not give him drink. Alas, if you had given him, you would have found that (i.e. reward)
with me.’ ‘O’ son of Adam, I became sick and you did not visit Me.’ He will answer: ‘How could I visit
You? You are the Lord of the worlds!’ He will say: ‘Did you not know that my servant so and so, the
son of so and so became sick and you did not visit him. Alas, had you visited him, you would have
found Me with him.
(saih bukhari)

-"No one believes truly until he desires for his brother that which he desires for himself"
(Bokhari and Muslim).
from brother here doesnt necessarily mean a Muslim because we are all children of Adam pbuh &
Eve pbuh hence we are brothers & sisters in humanity.

-"Whoever wishes to be delivered from the fire and to enter paradise should treat other people as
they wish to be treated themselves"
(Muslim)

-Abu Hurairah(r.a) relates that the Holy Prophet kissed his grandson Hasan ibn Ali Aqr’a ibn Habis,
who was with him at the time, and he said: I have ten sons and have never kissed any of them. The
Holy Prophet looked at him and said: He who has no compassion will receive none.
(Bokhari and Muslim)

-Ayesha(r.a) relates that some desert Arabs came to the Holy Prophet and asked: Do you kiss your
children? He answered: Yes. They said: We never kiss them. He said: Can I help it if Allah has
stripped your hearts of compassion
(Bokhari and Muslim)

-Jarir ibn Abdullah relates that the Holy Prophet said: Allah has no mercy for him who has no mercy
for his fellows (Bokhari and Muslim).

-A good word is a form of charity.

[Sahih Muslim, Book 5, Number 2204]

-"The Prophet said that a kind word or even a smile is a form of charity."

-Ayesha relates: A poor woman came to me with her two daughters. I gave her three dates. She
gave one to each girl and raised the third to her own mouth to eat. The girls asked her for it. So she
broke it into two parts and gave one to each of the girls. I was much struck by her action and
mentioned what she had done to the Holy Prophet. He said: Allah appointed Paradise for her in
consequence of it; or he said: Allah freed her from the Fire on account of it (Bokhari and Muslim).

-"He who directs another towards good will have such merit as the one who follows his direction; and
has said: If a person calls another towards guidance he will have as much merit as the one who
follows his direction, without there being the least diminution in the merit of either"
(Muslim and Abu Daud).
-Once, the Prophet of Mercy spoke of God’s forgiveness due to the humane treatment of animals.
He told his companions the story of a man who got thirsty on his way. He found a well, climbed down
inside it to the water, and quenched his thirst. When he came out he saw a panting dog licking on
mud out of extreme thirst. The man thought to himself, “The dog has become as thirsty as I was!”
The man went down the well again and got some water for the dog. God appreciated his good work
and forgave him. The companions asked, “O Prophet of God, do we get rewarded on humane
treatment of animals?” He said, “There is a reward in (doing good to) every living being.”

9-Sports, smiling & physical fitness

-“eat and drink and do not commit excesses; indeed He does not love those who are excessive”
(Quran 7:31)

Obesity & Gluttony are big problems of health in world right now.

-“Don’t indulge in over-eating because it would quench the light of faith within your hearts”

-“Your body has a right over you”

“A stronger believer is better than a weak believer”

-Ayehsa(r.a) says: “I raced with the Prophet pbuh and beat him in the race. Later, when I had put on
some weight, we raced again and he won.”

-“Any action without remembrance of Allah is either diversion or heedlessness excepting four acts:
Walking from target to target (during archery practice), training a horse, playing with one’s family and
learning to swim.”

- The Prophet (s) once wrestled with a man called Rukhanah who was well known for his strength,
throwing him down more than once. (reported by Abu Dawud)

- He himself used to walk at a fast pace and those who walked with him had difficulty keeping with
him. In a hadith reported by Ali (r) in Tirmidhi, he described Muhammad’s (s) vigorous way of
walking: “When he walked, because of the speed and force of the legs, it seemed as if he was
descending from a high place.” Abu Huraira in another hadith in Tirmidhi narrated that, “I did not see
anyone walk faster than him, as is the earth folded for him. A few moments ago he would be here,
and then there. We found it difficult to keep pace when we walked with him and he walked at his
normal pace.”

- ”Teach your children swimming, archery and horse riding”

- Jarir ibn Abdullah said: “Allah’s Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) never refused me
permission to see him since I embraced Islam and never looked at me but with a smile” (Sahih
Muslim).

- He always kept smiling in the face of his Companions to the extent that Abdullah ibn Al-Harith ibn
Hazm said, “I have never seen anyone who smiles more than the Prophet does.” (At-Tirmidhi)

-“Do not disdain a good deed, (no matter how small it may seem) even if it is your meeting with your
brother with a cheerful face” (Sahih Muslim).

-"Smiling in your brother’s face is an act of charity”

(At-Tirmidhi; Declared Authentic)

Smiling has been acknowledged as a science at the beginning of the 20th Century; it started to be
known as “The Psychology of Laughter.”Stressing the significance of smiling, Voltaire said, “Smile
melts ice, installs confidence and heals wounds; it’s the key of sincere human relations.”

10-Interfaith dialogue in Islam

-“Invite all to the way of your Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and engage with them in
ways that are best and most gracious” (Quran 16:125).

-“ Say [O Mohammad]: O people of the book, come to a common understanding between us and
you, that we shall worship no one except One God that we shall take no partners with Him and none
of us shall take others for Lord beside One God” (Quran 3:64).

-It was a Christian priest, Waraqah, cousin of Khadija (Prophet Mohammad’s first and only wife for
25 years) who first testified that Prophet Mohammad (p) had received divine revelation.

-And a Christian king, Najashi of Abyssinia (Ethiopia), gave asylum to 80 Muslims who migrated
from Mecca because of persecution by pagan Arabs.

- In fact, the Quran says, “…nearest among them in love to the believers will you find those who say,
‘We are Christians’ because among these are men devoted to learning and men who have
renounced materialism, and they are not arrogant” (5:82).

-When a delegation of Christians from the Roman Empire visited Prophet Mohammad, he invited
them to stay in his mosque and allowed them to pray there according to their traditions.

- In 628 AD he granted a charter of privilege to the monks of St. Catherine Monastery in [Link] to
assure them of their rights as a Christian minority. The charter is very significant in demonstrating
the respect and tolerance of other faith communities as exemplified by the Prophet (p):
“This is a letter from Mohammad ibn Abdallah, as a covenant to those who adopt Christianity. We
are with them, they are my citizens, we will defend them.
No compulsion is to be on them.
Neither their judges to be removed from their jobs nor their monks from their monasteries.
No one is to destroy their house of worship, or to damage it, or to take anything from it to a Muslim’s
house.
No one is to force them to fight (for Muslims). Muslims are to fight for them.
If a Christian woman is married to a Muslim man, it should not take place without her approval. She
is not to be prevented from attending her church to pray.
No one from my nation is to disobey this covenant till Last Day.”

Kindly check this out: [Link]

-Something really beautiful:
Prayer of Prophet Muhammad (p):
“O Allah! Put affection in our hearts, set right the matters between us, guide us to the ways of peace,
save us from the darkness [and turn us] towards the light; save us from all kinds of indecency, the
apparent as well as the hidden; and bless our hearing, our seeing, our hearts, our spouses, and our
children; and turn in mercy upon us. Indeed, You are the One who greatly accepts repentance, One
who is repeatedly Merciful.”
Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi:
“Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace, where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is
injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness,
joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may not seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to
understand; to be loved as to love. For it is giving that we receive, it is pardoning that we are
pardoned, it is dying that we are born to eternal life.”

11-The sanctity of human life

-“If anyone has killed [without authorization, sanction, or justification] one person, it is like he has
killed the whole of mankind” (5:32)

terrorism has no place in Islam

-“…take not life, which God hath made sacred, except by way of justice and law: thus doth He
command you, that ye may learn wisdom.”
[Al-Qur’an 6:151]
-Muslims ruled Spain for roughly 800 years. During this time, and up until they were finally forced
out, the non-Muslims there were alive and flourishing. Additionally, Christian and Jewish minorities
have survived in the Muslim lands of the Middle East for centuries. Countries such as Egypt,
Morocco, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, and Jordan all have significant Christian and/or Jewish
populations.
This is not surprising to a Muslim, for his faith prohibits him from forcing others to see his point of
view. The Glorious Qur’an says:
“Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects evil and
believes in God hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold, that never breaks. And God heareth
and knoweth all things.”
[Al-Qur’an 2:256]

-“O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations
and tribes, that ye may know each other (not that ye may despise (each other). Verily the most
honored of you in the sight of God is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And God has full
knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things).”
[Al-Qur’an 49:13]
Thus, it is the universality of its teachings that makes Islam the fastest growing religion in the world.
In a world full of conflicts and deep schisms between human beings, a world that is threatened with
terrorism, perpetrated by individuals and states, Islam is a beacon of light that offers hope for the
future.

-Once the Prophet was seated at some place in Madinah, along with his Companions. During this
time a funeral procession passed by. On seeing this, the Prophet stood up. One of his Companion
remarked that the funeral was that of a Jew. The Prophet replied, “Was he not a human being?”

12-Honesty
-"When honesty is lost, then wait for the Hour (the Day of Judgment)".

-“O you who believe! Fear God, and be with those who are true (in word and deeds).” (Quran 9:119)

-Al Amin, the Prophet Muhammad once gathered all the people of Mecca and asked them, “O
people of Mecca! If I say that an army is advancing on you from behind the mountains, will you
believe me?” All said in one voice, “Yes, because we have never heard you telling a lie.” All the
people, without exception, swore to his truthfulness and honesty because he had lived an
unblemished and extremely pious life among them for forty years.
Abu Sufyan described his honesty. When Prophet Muhammad sent a letter to the Emperor of
Byzantium inviting him to Islam, the Emperor, Heraclius sent for the Meccan trader, Abu Sufyan.
Even though he was, at that time, a dire enemy of Islam, he spoke the truth about Prophet
Mohammad when he said, “He neither tells lies nor betrays others, he bids people to worship God
Alone and orders us to observe prayer, honesty and abstinence”

-“Truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise. In addition, a man

keeps on telling the truth until he becomes a truthful person. Falsehood leads to wickedness and
evil-doing, and wickedness leads to the (Hell) Fire, and a man may keep on telling lies till he is
written before God, as a liar”. (Saheeh Al-Bukhari)

-“Woe unto those who give short measure, those who, when they are to receive their due from
people, demand that it be given in full but when they have to measure or weigh whatever they owe
to others, give less than what is due. Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the
dead (and called to account) on an awesome Day, the Day when all men shall stand before the
Sustainer of all the worlds?” (Quran 83:1-6)

-“This is the day that the honest people will benefit from their honesty.” [Quran 5: 119]

referring towards day of judgement ^

-The Prophet (peace be upon him) informed us of the effects that both honesty and dishonesty have
on our personalities when he said: “Honesty brings about security and lying fosters doubts.”
-The Prophet (peace be upon him) also said: “Honesty leads to righteousness and righteousness
leads to Paradise . A man remains honest and concerned about honesty until he is recorded as an
honest man with Allah. Lying leads to sinfulness and sinfulness leads to the Fire. A man keeps lying
and remains partial to lies until he is recorded as a liar with Allah.” [Sahîh al-Bukharî and Sahîh
Muslim]
-He also explained the effects that honesty and dishonesty have on our interpersonal dealings:
“Honesty and clarity are blessed for both parties to a sale, while concealment and deceit destroy the
blessings of their sale.” [Sahîh al-Bukharî and Sahîh Muslim]
-Prophet Muhammad pbuh's first marriage to Khadija(r.a):
She had heard about the noblest qualities like truthfulness, honesty and integrity of Hazrat
Muhammad (PBUH) from other people. She sent Him a job offer which He readily accepted. So, He
(PBUH) was sent on the very first on the very first commerce tour to Syria right away, accompanied
by the servant of Hazrat Khadijah (R.A), Maysarah, who was quite impressed from His (PBUH)
immaculate ways of business dealings. On the way back, when Rasulullah (PBUH) sat under a
certain tree for taking rest, a Jewish priest had recognized His special stature. When he enquired the
slave about Muhammad (PBUH), he was told about His great Character. Thereby, the monk had
acknowledged Him as the Last Spiritualist by adding that only the previous Prophets used to rest
under this tree.
When her slave told Hazrat Khadijah (R.A) about the whole incident, she was greatly impressed and
thought about marrying Him (PBUH) soon. One night, she saw a dream with a bright light
descending from the heavens lightening her home. When she told her cousin, Waqarah bin Nawfal
(a well known dream teller and an expert in previous Sacred Scriptures) about this, he congratulated
her and told her about a blissful life ahead under the company of the Last Prophet. Her desire to wed
Him (PBUH) increased more as she gained the peace of her mind. In the end, her close friend,
Nafisah bint Manbah told Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) about a probable marriage proposal. The Holy
Prophet (PBUH) said if she is ready to marry Him, then He has no objection to it. Hence, both Hazrat
Muhammad (PBUH) and Hazrat Khadija (R.A) got married by mutual consent at the ages of 25 and
40 respectively. The Prophet (PBUH) did not marry any other woman as long as she (R.A) remained
alive. They lived together for 25 years, having 6 children (2 sons and 4 daughters) between them,
known as Qasim, Abdullah, Zaynab, Ruqayyah, Umm Kulthum and Fatimah. Both of their sons died
at young ages. She remained an appropriate companion, trusted counselor and helper to the Holy
Prophet (PBUH) and even participated alongside Him in spreading of Islam.

13-Slaves
First of all, it should be realized that, when Islam came, slavery was prevalent throughout the world
as an acknowledged fact of socio-economic existence.
In fact, the economy of many regions during that period depended on a system where slavery played
an integral part. It would have been impractical to eradicate slavery with a command to stop it
altogether.
As in the case of liquor, slavery’s prohibition could have been effected only gradually. In the matter
of alcohol, it was possible to ban it altogether during the life time of the Prophet Muhammad pbuh.
But slavery was so deep-rooted in the social structure of the time that it had far-reaching social and
economic implications. Therefore, its abolition required a period of time far longer than the life of the
Prophet. This was the reason why there was no categorical ban of slavery during his time.

However, it is noteworthy that Islam was the first to initiate the emancipation movement that took the
world some seven centuries to adopt and enforce.
Under the Islamic system, we see slaves exalted to the position of military commanders and leaders.
When the Prophet sent out an army that consisted of the closest of the Companions — the
Muhajirun (Immigrants) and the Ansar (Helpers), the acknowledged leaders of the Muslims — he
entrusted Zaid, a former slave, with the generalship of the army. After the death of Zaid, the Prophet
appointed Zaid’s son Osama as the commander of the army consisting of such illustrious men as
Abu Bakr and `Umar, his two principal Companions.

-“You should listen to and obey your ruler even if he was a black Ethiopian slave whose head looks
like a raisin”

-“Your servants and your slaves are your brothers. Anyone who has slaves should give them from
what he eats and wears. He should not charge them with work beyond their capabilities. If you must
set them to hard work, in any case, I advise you to help them”

Freeing a slave has always been regarded as one of the most meritorious of all acts, and many
passages of the Quran require it, particularly as a means of expiation for serious faults.
Slavery was never praised or encouraged in Islam. One of the Companions, `Umar ibn Al-Khattab,
berated Muslims in a famous khutbah (sermon), asking them “When did you enslave people while
Allah the Almighty created them free?”
Then what about slave women ? i.e Rights hands posses?

-"And whoever among you cannot [find] the means to marry free, believing women, then [he may
marry] from those whom your right hands possess of believing slave girls. And Allah is most knowing
about your faith. You [believers] are of one another. So marry them with the permission of their
people and give them their due compensation according to what is acceptable. [They should be]
chaste, neither [of] those who commit unlawful intercourse randomly nor those who take [secret]
lovers. But once they are sheltered in marriage, if they should commit adultery, then for them is half
the punishment for free [unmarried] women. This [allowance] is for him among you who fears sin, but
to be patient is better for you. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. "(Quran 4 : 25)
By the above verse we know that:
(1)You cant have sex with slaves unless marriage with them.
(2)Not Unless she is Muslim
(3)She cannot be forced to be married
(4)She cannot be forced to accept Islam as Allah says in Surah Baqrah Ayah 256 : “There shall be
no compulsion in [acceptance of] the religion”

The Prophet (p) in numerous Hadith reports has commanded believers to free slaves. The injunction
in this verse tells the early believers to marry women who were captured in war or were slaves, it
would be more pure for them that they marry them, 1300 years ago.

-So the owners are asked to arrange for the marriage of their slaves or at least not to stop them from
doing so, if they wish to. This again proves our point, because when a slave-woman is married off to
someone, she becomes unlawful for her master. And here we see the master being asked to marry
her off or at least not to make it difficult for her to marry. Had the purpose of taking slave-women
been sexual pleasure, there was no point in asking the masters to make it easy for the slave-women
to get married and become unlawful for the masters.
During the time of ‘Umar- may Allah be pleased with him- a person was brought to him for cohabiting
with his slave-woman who was married to someone, he punished him severely with hundred lashes.
See Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba, Narration 29152-29153, Muhammad Awwama ed.
In fact the best is that one manumits his slave-girl and he marries her as a free woman.
Narrated Abu Musa: Allah's Messenger said, "He who has a slave-girl and educates and treats her
nicely and then manumits and marries her, will get a double reward." (Sahih Bukhari, Book 46,
Hadith 720)
And once she is a free-woman and properly married then there is no question of being a “sex object”
unless one considers marriage the same.

Marriage with a slave if she accepts Islam on her own will, is called "milq" in Islamic jurisprudence.

-Scholar Bernard K. Freamon, attaches in his footnote section 55, many non-Muslims who also
came to the same conclusion that Islam came to end slavery:
“55 Many scholars, Muslim and non-Muslim alike, have made this argument in recent times. The
argument is presented well, using Hadith sources, in the Quranic commentary of Sayyid Qutb, the
late Egyptian theologian and Quranic scholar. See Sayyid Qutb, In the Shade of the Qur’an (M. Adil
Salahi & Ashur Shamis (trans.), Idara Ishaat E Diniyat (P) Ltd 1992) 176-179. The British abolitionist
C. W. W. Greenidge, in his magnificent little book on slavery, C. W. W. Greenidge, Slavery
(Macmillan 1958), also cites several rather convincing assertions of this argument. In addition to
relying on the assertions of Syed Ameer Ali, the Indian Islamic modernist, he quotes Eldon Rutter in
saying ‘the Koran rightly practiced would soon bring about the complete cessation of slavery.’ Ibid 65
(quoting Eldon Rutter, The Holy Cities of Arabia). He also quotes Bertram Thomas, ‘another
sympathetic authority of Arabia’, who said: ‘In the abatement of slavery Arabia has been false to her
Prophet’. Ibid (quoting Bertram Thomas, The Arabs). See also Muhammad Rashid Ridda, The
Muhammadan Revelation (Al Saadawi Publications 1996). Rida, another well-known early twentieth-
century Islamic modernist, asserted that the Qur’an has ten purposes and one of those purposes is
the elimination of slavery.” [1]

14-Charity (Sadqa)
Sadqa is different from Zakat(one of pillar of Islam).
Zakat is a fixed amount of money obligatory upon rich muslims to give to poor.
Saqda anyone can [Link] just giving a smile is a sadqa..

-‘Generosity is near to Allah, near to Paradise, near to the people, and far from the Hellfire…’
(Tirmidhi)

-‘He is not a Muslim whose stomach is full while his neighbour goes hungry.’ (Muslim)
- ‘The best form of charity is to give someone water (to drink).’ (Ibn Majah)
-‘Blessed is the wealth of the Muslim, from which he gives to the poor, the orphan and the wayfarer.’
(Muslim)
-‘The person who assists and takes care of the widow… is like the person who is striving in the path
of Allah…’ (Bukhari; Muslim)
-‘None of you have faith until you love for your neighbour what you love for yourself.’ (Muslim)
-“The believer’s shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity.”
- 'And be steadfast in your prayer and pay charity; whatever good you send forth for your future, you
shall find it with Allah, for Allah is well aware of what you do' (2:110).

-'A Muslim does not plant, or sow anything from which a person, animal or anything eats but it is
considered as Sadaqah from him.' (Prophet of Allah (SAS) related by Bukhari.)

-'When one of you is poor, he starts with himself. If anything is left, he spends it on his dependants. If
anything is (still left) then on his relatives, and then, if more is left, he spends it here and there.'
(Prophet of Allah (SAS) related from Jabir.)
-"Every good deed is charity. Verily, it is a good deed to meet your brother with a cheerful face, and
to pour what is left from your bucket into the vessel of your brother.”
(Source: Sunan al-Tirmidhī 1970)

15-Mocking other religions

-"Revile not ye those whom they call upon besides Allah, lest they out of spite revile Allah in their
ignorance..."(Quran, 6/108)

-“To you be your religion, to me be mine.” (Quran, chapter al-kafiroon)

-“Beware! Whoever is cruel and hard on a non-Muslim minority, or curtails their rights, or burdens
them with more than they can bear, or takes anything from them against their free will; I (Prophet
Muhammad) will complain against the person on the Day of Judgment.” (Abu Dawud)

-“…If they do come to you, either judge between them or decline to interfere...” (Quran 5:42)
-“I command you to do 10 things: you must not kill a woman or a child, or an elderly person; do not
cut down the trees, or vandalize homes, or wound a sheep or camel except if you must eat it; do not
drown a palm tree, or burn it, do not be treacherous; do not be cowardly; and you will pass by people
who have devoted themselves to monastery life; leave them alone with their devotions.” (Tarikh At-
Tabari, V.3 p. 210)

-"Were Allah not to check people by means of others, there would have been demolished the
monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques in which the name of Allah is often mentioned. "
(Quran 22:40)
The above verse ^ also shows that Allah acknowledges that non-muslims even call him.

-Ibn Khaldun reported: Umar ibn Al-Khattab(companion of Prophet) entered the sacred
house and came to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. He sat inside among its
companions until the time of prayer arrived. Umar said to patriarch, “I want to pray.”
The patriarch said, “Here is your place of prayer,” but Umar refrained from doing so and
instead he prayed upon the staircase near a door apart from the church. When Umar
finished his prayer, he said to patriarch:
If I prayed inside the church, the Muslims after me would take it and they would say: Umar prayed
here.

16-Humanity

-“All human beings are a single nation” (2:213).

-“All human beings are naught but a single nation and yet they disagree” (10:19).
-“And verily this your nation (human beings) is a single nation” (21:92) and (23:52).
-The Quran and other divine scriptures testify this verity that humanity is the core message of
prophecy. Some non-believers maintain that religion is the apple of discord. But is it not the mind’s
inability to understand and the selfish and greedy passions that cause the discord, not the Truth
given by God through the prophets? The prophets rendered great sacrifices. John was beheaded
with a saw. Jesus Christ was tortured and crucified. Muhammad was teased and attacked. Thy
tyrants and tribal chiefs troubled him, but the prophets tolerated all trials, for God and humanity.
Humanity is the message of all religions.

18-Beauty
-Although the eyes may not perceive every creation around us as beauty, the Qur’anic verse (32:7)
tells us that all creation is beautiful.

-Abdullah Ibn Masood (may God be pleased with him) said that the Prophet (on him peace) said,
"No one will enter Paradise who has an atom's weight of pride in his heart." A man [in his company]
asked, "What if a man likes his clothes to look good and his shoes to look good?" The Prophet said,
"Indeed, God is beautiful and loves beauty. Pride means denying the truth and looking down on
people."

19-No racism
-“O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations
and tribes, that ye may know each other (not that ye may despise each other). Verily the most
honoured of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And Allah has full
knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things).”(Surah Al-Hujuraat, 13)

-And among His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the diversity of your
languages and colors. Surely in this are signs indeed for people who have knowledge (of the facts in
creation, and who are free of prejudices). Quran, The Romans (Ar-Rum); 22 (30:22)

-One of the Companions of the Prophet asks: O Allah's Messenger, would one's love for one's tribe
and nation be regarded as racism? The Prophet answers:
No, it would not. Racism, rather, is one's helping one's tribe in injustice/wrongdoing.(Ibnu Majah,
Fitan, 7)

-"An arab has no superiority over a non-arab, and a non arab has no superiority over an arab"

-"a white has no superiority over a black, and a black has no superiority over a white"

No racism issue in Islam for 1400 years.

In short Islam teaches Humanity.
