The Grasshopper and the Ants

One bright summer day, a grasshopper was hopping around a field, singing and enjoying the
warm sunshine. As he danced and sang, he saw a group of ants working hard. The ants were
carrying grains of food to their nest.

“Why are you working so hard?” asked the grasshopper. “Come and enjoy the day with me!”

The ants stopped for a moment and said, “We are storing food for the winter. When it is cold,
there will be no food to find. You should do the same.”

The grasshopper laughed and replied, “Winter is far away! There is plenty of time to worry
about it. Right now, I just want to sing and relax.”

The ants shook their heads and continued their work.

As summer turned into autumn, the weather became colder. The grasshopper realized he had
no food to eat. He searched everywhere, but there was nothing left. Hungry and cold, he went
to the ants' nest.

“Dear ants,” he said, “I am starving. Can you please share some food with me?”

The ants looked at him and said, “During summer, we worked hard to prepare for winter.
You spent your time singing and playing. Now, you must face the result of your choices.”
