SUPPORT OVERDRIVE
We really enjoy working on that game but it is a lot of work and we realize
that we will have some difficulty to release content as much as we wish. The
fact that we do it in French and in English does not make this easier on
us. So, we decided to launch a Patreon page for this project. If you enjoy
Overdrive and want to encourage this initiative, you can support us here:

https://www.patreon.com/GaslandsOverdrive
There are three tier levels to support Overdrive: Mechanic, Co-pilot and
Sponsor. They all give access to the fanzine before the release on other
platforms, plus the opportunity to be a part of the creative process. For the
launch of the Patreon we even give a special offer. Go take a look!

OVERDRIVE WILL REMAIN ACCESSIBLE FREE OF CHARGE FOR

CONSULTATION BY ALL.
HOWEVER, BEING A PATRON WILL ALSO ALLOW YOU TO DOWNLOAD
OVERDRIVE IN PDF AND ACCESS IT 14 DAYS IN ADVANCE.

Have a good reading and don’t forget, Mars is watching you!

TINKERER’S
GARAGE
Based on ideas by Kenvin A Thompson and Dave Garbe,
edited by FX Grass and Manuel Bergeron.

UPGRADES
Here are two new defensive upgrades for your vehicle. These are used in this
issue’s scenario but could be used in any Gaslands game.

GAS MASK
Cost: 1 Can, 0 Build slot
Useful against those pesky gas grenades! You can purchase one Gas Mask
per crew member. The crew can never be dropped below the number of
masks involuntarily.
FIRE EXTINGUISHER
Cost: 1 Can, 0 Build slot - Ammo : 1
A Fire Extinguisher can be used to put out the On Fire condition. During
this vehicle attack step, you can assign a crew member to try to put out the
On Fire condition. Throw 1D6, the Fire is put out on a 4+ result. If you
have more than one Fire Extinguisher, you can use more than one crew
member to this task, this gives you multiple chances at putting the fire out.
Note that this does not HEAL or otherwise fix the vehicle. This simply
ends the On Fire condition, regardless of Hazards.
A Fire Extinguisher can be used on another vehicle at Short Range. In this
case, the fire is put out only a roll of 5+.

4
MOUNTED RAMP
Cost: 4 Cans, 2 Build slots
Whether its a repurposed towing truck or an angled pile of junk, this is
the mounted version of the Ramp terrain (page 87). When purchasing this
upgrade, a facing must be declared for it, as if it was a weapon. A vehicle
may only purchase a single Mounted Ramp on each facing. This facing is
considered the “entry edge” for the Mounted Ramp, which is the bit of the
ramp that you drive up on to. If the facing is on the side, agree with your
fellow players before the game if one or both sides are considered entry
points. Lightweight vehicles may not purchase this upgrade. Cannot be
mounted on the same facing as a Ram or Exploding ram.
If another vehicle’s movement template and/or Final Position overlaps the
entry edge and any other edge, they stop at the edge of the Mounted Ramp
and roll a D6. If the die roll is equal to or under the vehicle’s current Gear:
make a Jump, else make a Tumble (see page 88). The vehicle with the
Mounted Ramp upgrade gains 2 Hazards.
If another vehicle’s movement template or Final Position overlaps the entry
edge without overlapping any other edge, consider the Mounted Ramp an
Obstruction. This vehicle’s movement is interrupted at the entry edge of
the ramp and this causes a Collision Window.

DANGEROUS OBSTACLES
Here is a list of different obstacles to make your Gaslands game even more
dangerous! Obstacles always count as obstructions.

HEDGEHOG
Obstacle full of spike and stud. A collision with those does 1D6 more
damage. Decide with the other players if this obstacle is Destructible or
not.
SNIPER
One of those Resistant stupid dreamers hide on the competition field!
Decide with the others players in which Terrain element the Sniper is
hiding and if it is Destructible or not. The Sniper automatically makes
a 1D6 Shooting attack targeting the first vehicle to end their Movement
step within Long range of the Sniper each Gear Phase. The target may
Evade as normal. The Sniper is too well hidden, so he cannot be targeted
by Shooting attacks. But if a collision occurs with his terrain piece he will
die or flee, who knows… Feel free to give other crew weapons to the Sniper
for more variations.

RESERVOIR TANK
The most classic kind of Reservoir tank is the Volatile one (see page 87) but
there are some other types that contain a lot of nasty stuff.
ACID
During a collision with this Destructible obstacle, some acid damage the
vehicle. Determine randomly one weapon or upgrade that is destroyed by
the acid for the rest of the game.
CRATE FULL OF NAILS
During a collision with this destructible obstacle place a Small Burst
template at the place the obstacle once was. Apply the Rule of Carnage
when positioning the template. This works exactly like the Caltrop dropper.
The vehicle that provoked the collision is affected even if his final position
doesn’t touch the template.

6
KEROSENE
This volatile obstacle does not only explode but when he does it put
the vehicle On Fire (page 81), even if it didn’t take damage from the
explosion.
GOO
During a collision with this destructible obstacle place a Large Burst
template at the place the obstacle once was. Apply the Rule of Carnage
when positioning the template. This works exactly like the Glue dropper.
The vehicle that provoked the collision is affected even if his final position
doesn’t touch the template.
OIL
Same as Goo, but with Oil Slick Dropper (page 79)!
WATER TANKER
This Destructible obstacle is full of water. If a vehicle On fire comes in
collision with it, the vehicle is no longer considered On Fire.

SCENARIO
Strike!
A 2-player scenario by FX Grass.

The plan was simple and brutal. Get there and arson the Explosive depot. If
everything blows up, those Martians big shots would have no choice but to stop
exploiting the place! We knew some rat snitched on us. It didn’t stop us. But boy,
were they ready for us! Even the Network was there to film the carnage.
TEAM
This scenario is for two teams or groups of teams. One is the Striker and the
other the Security Agent. The Security Agent must prevent the Explosive
Depot from...exploding! He has a 50 cans team and the automated defence
of the site to help him. He got two free Fire Extinguishers (see page 4
of this issue) and two Security Drones. The Strikers must set on fire the
Explosive Depot. He has 90 Cans to build his team. He gets some free
Cocktails Molotov (Ammo 5) and one Gaz Mask (see page 4 of this issue).
SETUP
Lay out some terrains to represent a construction, industrial or an open-
air mining site. The security agent place the Explosive Depot centred at
long range of his edge of the table. Take any terrain piece approximately 3
by 4 inches (8 x 10 cm) to represent the Explosive Depot. He then places
two Riot Turrets at a maximum of Short range of the Explosive Depot.
Take some tokens, approximately 20 mm in diameter to represent the
Riot Turrets. Deploy one Security Drone in contact with each Riot Turret.
Then, the Security agent deploys his team at maximum short range of the
Explosive Depot. Consider the Depot like his Spawn point.

10
The Striker place a token that
will represent his spawn point
anywhere on the opposite
table edge of the Explosive
Depot. The Striker deploy his
team at maximum Short range
of his spawn point. Finally,
the Security Agent place two
Dangerous Obstacles (see page
6 of this fanzine) at minimum
Medium range of the Striker
vehicles.

12
POLE POSITION
The Striker begins the game with the Pole Position token. The pole position
change hands at the end of each Gear phase.
SPECIAL RULES
• Riot Turret: These turrets are Medium weight Destructible (see page
87) obstacle with 4 Hull points. Riot turrets automatically make a 2D6
shooting attack targeting the first vehicle to end their Movement step
within Medium range of the turret each Gear Phase. The target may
Evade as normal. Each hit has the same effect as a Gas grenade (page
76). A Riot turret cannot attack more than once per Gear Phase. It
never attack a vehicle of the Security Agent. At the end of each Gear
Phase, if the Explosive Depot is On Fire each Turret use it sprinklers
and remove one Hazard Token to the Depot.
• Security Drones: Represent these Drones with a 20 mm Token or
anything you see fit. They always move in straight line at Short range
and only activate in Gear Phases 1 and 2. Treat those Drones as vehicles
controlled by the Security Agent. They activate in turn with the other
vehicles in play. They shoot at Medium range for a 2D6 Blast attack.
The Security Drones fly, so they don’t do Collision with vehicles or
terrains (see Airborne page 70). They never change Gear, never Evade,
never gains Hazard tokens and never throw Skid Dice. Drones don’t
have Facing and can move and Shoot in any directions. They can be
targeted by Shooting attacks, have 2 Hull points and are Lightweight.
When wrecked, they automatically explode on the spot (page 43).
• Explosive Depot: This armoured shelter is used to store the dynamite
and, other dangerous products needed for the site. It is made to be
fire-resistant, so destroying it will be a challenge! It is a heavyweight
indestructible obstacle. The only way to destroy it is to put it On Fire.
There are two solutions to achieve this. Attack it with some flamethrowers
and Molotov cocktails or ram it with a vehicle On Fire! Each hit with
the Fire rule gives one Hazard token to the Explosive Depot. At this
point the Depot is considered On Fire and automatically receive one
Hazard token at the beginning of each Gear phase. A vehicle On Fire
that Smash the Explosive Depot will give one Hazard token for each
successful hit. The Explosive Depot explodes when it reaches 20 Hazard
Token. If at any point the Depot has zero Hazard token, it is no longer
considered On Fire.

13
• Barricades: During Set up, the Security Agent deploy two Dangerous
Obstacles of his choice. He either choose two obstacles from the list
presented in page 6 of this fanzine or two Volatile obstacles of Medium
Weight. The two barricades can be of different types.
• Using the Fire Extinguisher on the Explosive Depot: The Security
Agent can use his Fire extinguisher to put out the fire. A vehicle
equipped with a Fire Extinguisher must be within Short range of the
Depot to use it. This will take off 1D6 Hazed tokens from the Depot.
GAME END
The game ends at the end of the third round or if the Striker succeeds
in destroying the Explosive Depot or if he has no vehicle in play at the
beginning of a Gear phase.
VICTORY CONDITIONS
If the Explosive Depot explodes, the Striker win. The Security Agent win if
the Depot does not explode by the end of the game or if they are no vehicle
of the Striker team in play at the beginning of a Gear phase.

around the Depot. Place one Security Drone in contact with each Riot
Turret. Finally, Place 4 Volatile obstacles where you see fit.

TUTORIAL
Hazard Stripes

How to paint Hazard Stripes. By James Hall.

In this tutorial I will be showing you a quick and easy

method for painting hazard stripes onto your cars. You
won’t need any specialist tools for this tutorial, just 4
paints, scissors and masking tape.
To start, make sure you’ve base-coated your car in the
colour of your choice. I prefer a black base-coat.
You want to decide where the hazard stripes are going to
go, and pick this area out in brown. This could be just the
hood, a side panel or door, or even the whole car.
With the area picked out, the next step is to paint it yellow.
I prefer to add layers of brown mixed with yellow starting
at a 50/50 ratio, reducing the brown paint each time until
It’s only yellow highlights being applied. This gives a richer
yellow colour.

16
Before I add the hazard masks, I like to go around the edges
with some beige paint and highlight them.
It is now time to add the mask. The best way to do this is
to cut thin strips of your masking tape to around 2mm in
width, and make sure there is an equal distance between
each one. The best part of this step is if you make a mistake,
you can remove the tape and adjust as needed. Take your
time, look at the car from multiple angles, and make sure
you’re happy with it before moving on to the next step.
It’s important to remember the area you are masking will
not be covered with the black paint. In this tutorial, I
am leaving enough of the car showing so I have 2 hazard
stripes. By adding or removing masking tape you can use
this technique to create markings and “Go-faster stripes”!
The next step is to black out the areas not covered by the
mask. Mix a little water into your black paint, this will help
it flow over irregular details or marks on the surface and
will give better coverage. Once the black layer is dry, mix a
little beige and black paint together to make a grey and use
that to apply some highlights to the edges, just like we did
with the yellow.
And now the best part. Removing the tape.
You will probably have areas where the paint has bled
through the masking tape. This is perfectly normal, and
can be fixed with a little yellow paint in key areas.
And with that, your hazard stripes are done and you can
finish the rest of the paint job! There is plenty of room to
play and experiment with this, so take your time and have
fun with it.
