Verse: Luke 12:32 Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the
kingdom. 33 Sell what you possess and give alms; provide yourselves with purses that do not wear
out, a treasure in heaven that does not fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. 34 For
where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Let's talk about the treasures that allow us to grow as people and bring us closer to GOD: values.
And we will see that the family is the best school where to learn and live them. We will recognize
that anti-values are those that distance us from GOD and we will learn to distinguish them from true
values.
Introduction: One day a man came home very thoughtful. His wife was shocked to see her
husband's face so different. "What's wrong with you, what makes you so thoughtful? "Any problems
with your work?" The man, lost in his thoughts, suddenly came back to reality. "Hello, honey!" he
replied. I really can't believe what happened to me at work today. My boss invites me to earn a lot of
money. A mansion with everything you want to have. You will have a car, jewelry, dresses, we will
travel..........."Luck has finally struck us!" She asked him, "What has your boss asked you to do?"
"Has he invited you to some dirty business?" The man's joy turned into a serious look. He never
expected such a question from his wife. She continued: "What's the point of having all this if your
conscience will always demand it from you? "What is more valuable in life: luxury, comfort and
dishonesty, or economic deficiencies but an honestly earned livelihood, peace of mind and a happy
marriage?" The young man smiled gratefully at his wife. He hugged her and tenderly said, "Thank
you, wife!" Thank you for helping me see that what is most valuable in life is what makes me a better
person, and not what makes me have more things." The next day he quit his job.
What is a value? A value is any good or thing that results in well-being for me. However simple
this may be, it will be valuable to me if it allows me to do something that I find beneficial. They are
the engine of our life. Values are deep convictions of human beings that determine their way of
being and guide their behavior. Values involve our feelings and emotions. Values, attitudes and
behavior are related. They are beliefs or convictions that something is preferable and worthy of
appreciation.
An attitude is a disposition to act according to certain beliefs, feelings and values. In turn, attitudes
are expressed in behaviors and opinions that manifest themselves spontaneously.
Values are ranked according to importance criteria. Each person builds his or her own scale of
personal values, which means that people prefer some values over others. A person's most important
values form part of their identity, guide their decisions regarding their desires and impulses, and
strengthen their sense of duty.
Based on his experiences, he builds his own sense of values. Although we are all taught that honesty
is something desirable, and although we all accept it as true, the interpretation we make of this value,
the meaning we find in our lives, will be different for each person. Some values remain throughout
people's lives, this depends on the characteristics of our values.
Characteristics of values.- Values have various characteristics, among which are:
Study of
Christian Values
• Durability: There are securities with different duration periods, some being more permanent
than others. These are reflected as people go through their lives.
Durability allows us to grow.
• Flexibility: Human values can change according to the experiences and needs of each
individual. The less flexible, the greater the benefits
• Hierarchy: There are values with a higher hierarchy than others, some being superior and
others inferior. Values and their hierarchy can change throughout life. They are related to the
interests and needs of people throughout their development. The values of young children
are largely defined by their subsistence needs and their search for parental approval:
biological sustenance, filial love. Teenagers guide their personal values by their need for
experimentation and autonomy: friendship, freedom. While in adulthood new priorities
arise: health, professional success, responsibility.
• Polarity: Values have two polarities, both negative and positive, meaning that each value has
its counterpart, which we will also discuss later.
• Satisfaction: People who practice values feel satisfaction, one of the reasons why others also
begin to practice them.
When a person decides to attend church or stay with their family, both live according to their values.
Each decision made on Sunday morning is a different set of values that move our lives toward paths
that either give us growth or destroy us. True values always produce growth and the values that do
not help us grow as people, and distance us from GOD, are anti-values. It is not bad to want to spend
time with family or friends, but do these meetings increase the knowledge of CHRIST? that is the
question. The attitude and behavior we have is a value or an anti-value
There are values that really help us to be better and bring us closer to GOD. It is known as universal
values. These do not lead to being better people every day and serving others better and living the
eternal life that JESUS achieved on the cross for us, these are known as Virtue (Capacity that
something has to produce a certain positive effect. 2. Habitual disposition to do good.)
How to distinguish a value from an antivalue? Ask yourself honestly: Is what I am going to do
bringing me closer to God? Does it really help me to be a better person? Who do I love when I do it?
If it helps you to be better, to get closer to God and to love others more, then it is a value. If it
distances you from God, if it makes you worse, if it does not help you to love others more and better,
it is an anti-value.
The school where values are learned and lived. Without a doubt, the family is the best school
where great values are learned and lived. The family is that place created and loved by GOD where
we learn to be good people. It is at home where we practice and live universal values. The family is
the best school for the formation of people. In the family we learn to be loved, to be generous, to be
faithful; there we learn to love our country; and in it we learn to love God, to be responsible, to
share. How important is family!

Some Christian Values
Verses: Philippians 4:8-9 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just,
whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is
anything worthy of praise, think about these things. 9 What you have learned and received and heard
and seen in me—practice these things, and the GOD of peace will be with you.
When we observe the reality of our society we realize that we are a society lacking moral and
spiritual values. And values are instilled primarily not in school or in the neighborhood, values are
instilled within a family. If society is sick, it is because the family is sick, it is shaky, and we want
the school to instill in our children what we do not do at home, but this should not be the case. And
we repeat again that values are all those attitudes that form us as people, men and women guided by
GOD. To say to the apostle these shocking words, “Do everything you have seen, heard, and learned
from me,” this is moral authority. Do we have this authority? Before teaching values to our family, it
is essential that we practice them ourselves first; we cannot demand that our children do something
that we do not live. Let's look at some of the values that as a Christian family we cannot lose but
rather must foster, to make our children good people.

All honest
1) Respect: Recognize the position and value of other people or institutions
1 Peter 2:17 Honor everyone. Love your brothers. Fear GOD. Honor the king.
• Respect makes us accept the self-worth and rights of others, and makes us live
together in peace.
• Respect for the rights of others is peace
• Respect for the elderly
• Respect for authorities
• Respect for parents
◦ It is obeying someone who, through experience and position, can guide me to
real maturity.
◦ It is not crossing limits that make you lose the authority that GOD delegates
to a person or the image of CHRIST that is formed in each person, including
you.
◦ It is to submit, for the love of GOD, to the laws even if they are oppressive
without violating the word or command of our LORD.
2) Gratitude: Recognizing the favor of others towards me, and the mercy and grace of GOD.
Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and
petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

the values of justice and truth.

whether anyone sees it or not.

value

their influence is beneficial to us
◦ To learn to receive honor is to honor those who give it to us.

develop or be in good condition.
Leviticus 19:34 You shall treat the stranger who resides among you as one of your own
people, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt. I
am the Lord your God.
We all have needs, but if we focus on ourselves we are not serving.
• We were created to respond to needs in CHRIST JESUS
• It must be our nature to be the reflection of the character of CHRIST.
• We are created for good works
• Perform small acts that show interest in others
• Putting other people's needs in our minds, not to tell them how to act but to
try to feel what they are going through.
• If we have been able to connect with someone, look for an act of caring
towards that person.

• Considering that you do not belong to yourself and you belong to GOD gives
you value
• Considering others as superiors elevates your position
• Considering that you are a reflection of your Heavenly Father fills you with
satisfaction.
• Show our qualities at all times and places
• Recognize our weaknesses and deficiencies, to undertake a process of
continuous and constant change until they become strengths.

difficulties or complications.
Acts 2:46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread
from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart.
◦ Presenting ourselves to GOD without posing, recognizing the need to be polished

◦ We must learn something about ourselves and who we communicate with.

Everything is true
The value that we will see is the one that should govern our lives, first let's see what is
true, the truth is not something that changes based on the point of view of the person who claims to
have it or over time, the truth is immutable, it is what leads us to the path and to life, it is CHRIST
JESUS, now how can we put this as a value in our lives. It is not easy but not impossible either, the
first step is that we must know Him, we must identify when He is there or when He is not there and
the only thing that will allow us to do this is communion with Him (reading the Bible, praying and
acting in obedience), GOD is willing to communicate with us in a relationship of intimacy but we
cannot have it because of the lack of purity. We can acquire it by practicing the value of truth, which
is a process in which our actions, attitudes, words, thoughts and feelings are compared with what
JESUS does in similar environments. We will call this process truth.
John 14:6 Jesus said to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to
the Father except through Me.
Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ
lives in me. And the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God,
who loved me and gave himself for me.

Conclusion
Moral and spiritual values are essential in our daily lives, as they give true meaning to
our lives. These lead the person to value themselves and others, grow with dignity and have a culture
of love, reverence and respect for GOD.
Moral and spiritual values perfect people, leading them to live in harmony, making them
more human with a higher quality of life. It is of no use to us to have good health, to be very
