Q19. Double convex lens are to be manufactured from a glass of


refractive index1.5 with both faces of same radius of curvature. Find
radius of curvature required if the focal length is to be 20 cm?

A screen is placed at a distance of 100 cm from an object. The image


of the object is formed on the screen by a convex lens for two
different locations of the lens separated by 20 cm. Calculate the focal
length of the lens used.

29.CASE STUDY-

A prism is a wedge shaped portion of a transparent refracting medium


bounded by two plane faces inclined to each other at a certain angle.
The angle A included between the two refracting faces is called angle
of the prism. There are various types of prism such as right angle
prism, equilateral prism, thin prism etc. when light passes through
prism it deviate through an angle known as angle of deviation .When
light incident on one face denser to rarer at an angle more than
critical angle then it suffer total internal reflection

(i) Light cannot easily escape a diamond without multiple internal

Case 2: Experimental study of photoelectric effect:

To study photoelectric effect, Lenard observed that when ultraviolet light


allowed to fall on photosensitive plate through quartz window then electrons
emitted form it and will travel towards positive terminal anode.so a current
