WHAT TECHNICAL WRITING
DOES
Part of the human experience is to observe and to induce or
deduce valuable conclusions
To discover facts or truths, we only need to collect and examine
data
Technical writing is a factual recording of the experience and
knowledge for the purpose of disseminating it (p. 6)
PROBLEMS IN FACTUAL
COMMUNICATION
PROBLEMS IN FACTUAL
COMMUNICATION
No matter what we see and report, there is always
something left out in our reporting.
Sometimes, even with all our senses, we do not observe
carefully.
This is complicated by language; we may convey a
certain meaning, but the receiver may interpret it
differently.
