WHAT TECHNICAL WRITING
DOES
Part of the human experience is to observe and to induce or
deduce valuable conclusions
To discover facts or truths, we only need to collect and examine
data
Technical writing is a factual recording of the experience and
knowledge for the purpose of disseminating it (p. 6)
PROBLEMS IN FACTUAL
COMMUNICATION
PROBLEMS IN FACTUAL
COMMUNICATION
No matter what we see and report, there is always
something left out in our reporting.
Sometimes, even with all our senses, we do not observe
carefully.
This is complicated by language; we may convey a
certain meaning, but the receiver may interpret it
differently.
