Wireless Sensor Network (WSN)
• Sensor nodes have limited processing,
wireless communication and power
resource capabilities.

• To save the power of the network we used

the scheduling technique with WSN to
increase the life of the network.

WSN
• The large-scale deployment leads to a higher energy
demand due to the increased communication volume. And
thereby, the lifetime of IoT devices is reduced.

• It is very important to classify energy-saving techniques

to optimum utilization.

• we explore various energy-efficient techniques proposed

recently for green IoT-based wireless systems.

• More specifically, IoT-based WSN, which is at the heart

of IoT technology.

Energy Consumption Issue
The network lifetime of WSN is one of the most challenging issues for any network protocol.
1. Collision
2. Idle Listening
3.Over Hearing

Energy Scheduling
Energy scheduling is essential process for
developing get better life of IoT devices in which
energy become efficient and with save time so the
network becomes more efficient and flexible.

Energy scheduling is used for efficiency with the

algorithms to enhance the throughput for the IoT
devices.

Problem Statement
In IoT network energy efficiency is a challenging issue. Several
energy efficient methods were proposed at sensor node to get
energy efficient environment in sensor network.

The aim of these algorithms is to decrease the energy

consumption by using different protocols but still there is a
problem of energy consumption at node level.

An energy efficiency scheduling technique will be proposed

using SEP heterogeneous routing protocol.

Energy Computation Sensor nodes[8]

Key Components of SEP protocol System
The WSN also faces some issues which are topology maintenance, coverage and connectivity,
data duplication, security, communication failure, energy and hardware constraint clustering
process in WSN.

Behavior of such sensor networks becomes very unstable once the first node dies, especially in
the presence of node heterogeneity.

SEP heterogeneous
Protocol
The larger the stable region and the smaller
the unstable region are, the better the
reliability of the clustering process of the
sensor network is.
On the other hand, there is a tradeoff
between reliability and the lifetime of the
system. Until the death of the last node we
can still have some feedback about the
sensor field even though this feedback may
not be reliable.

Proposed Solution

Outline

Proposed Solution

 Nodes types selection

 Weight Based CH selection

 Threshold value

Proposed SEP
• The clustering techniques acts as an effective approach for improving
energy efficiency and the overall network performance.
• The proposed approach uses the heterogeneous network model in which the
nodes are equipped with dissimilar levels of energy.
• The most important and critical part of the clustering procedure in the
proposed approach is the CH election process.
• In SEP protocol two types nodes Super and Ordinary nodes. Super nodes
additional energy than Ordinary nodes.

Total Energy
Super nodes energy is α=1, and ordinary node has energy level less than of
super nodes. So that, ordinary nodes µ= α/2 .
Super nodes energy=E0(1+α)
Ordinary nodes energy=E0 (1+µ)
Total energy=n.E0 (m + m*α+ µ+1)

Free SlideSalad Google Slides Template Copyright (C) SlideSalad.com All rights reserved.
Normal Nodes CH selection
• A node assumes a random number between 0 and 1 and a node is elected as CH, if the
selected random number is less than the threshold.
• As SEP uses the heterogeneous network, threshold values are different for Super nodes
and ordinary nodes. The threshold value for ordinary nodes is given by
Pop=Kop/N

/
Pord = P o p ( 1 + µ ) (m + m*α+µ+1)

T (sord) = { *(1-Erem) *E (total) /Ein if S

0 Otherwise

Super node CH selection
•The threshold value for Super nodes is given by
Pop=K op /N

/
Psup = P o p ( 1 + α ) (m + m*α+µ+1)

T (ssup) = { *(1 - Erem)*E(total)/Ein if S
