ENVIRONMENTAL
SOUNDS
In our everyday environment we are
surrounded by an endless array of
sounds.
 
Environmental Sounds- anything that can
be heard from the environment.
 
Examples of environmental sounds
 
running water, alert beeps, door bells,
footsteps, washing machines whirring,
coughing, and sneezing.
Environmental noise is defined as
unwanted or harmful outdoor sound created
by human activity, such as noise emitted by
means of transport, road traffic, rail traffic,
air traffic and industrial activity.
Sounds in the environment
differ from one another. They
can be loud/soft,
1. Loud sounds are sounds that are high in
volume.
 
Examples of loud sounds: smoke alarm,
airplane, fireworks

2. Soft sounds are those that are low in
volume.
 
Examples of Soft sounds: heartbeat, hiss of
snake, trickle of water
