Evaluation
A bomb exploded in Stassbourg, England soon became headlines in several newspapers. Holmes who disguised
as a beggar was busy stalking Irene Adler his enemy which also his idol that brings an important package. In the
sequel of ‘Sherlock Holmes this time, Professor, James Moriarty to be the most dangerous enemy. Moriarty is not
the kind of people who are hesitant to remove the lives of many people in order to achieve the goal. Explosions in
Strassbourg in one of the result of Prof. Moriarty’s creation.
Holmes is busy when his friend, Dr. Watson is getting married, because marriage would automatically make
Holmes lost his partner in investigating the case. A gypsy woman, Madam Sinza, helped Holmes get the adventure
this time. There was also the Holmes brother, Mycroft Holmes who came to be an accomplice of the detective this
time. Farce as those made by Holmes and several other characters in the film guaranteed to invite slaughters.
Chess competition between Holmes and Prof. Moriarty became the ultimate point.They both described the
mind wanders respectively. This is the climax part and amazing part of this film, because of the fight scene
between Holmes and Moriarty.
 
Interpretation
Professor Moriarty: Are you sure you want to play this game?
Sherlock Holmes: I'm afraid you'd lose.
In Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, my mind turns two ways: The first half is guns, gunpowder, and
gymnastics. Sherlock Holmes (Robert Downey, Jr.) and Dr. Watson (Jude Law) contend with the salvation of
civilization mostly through athletics, aided by director Guy Ritchie's considerable skill with the camera and graphics.
But in the second half, when the duo moves swiftly but intellectually to confront the arch villain Professor James
Moriarty (Jared Harris), my mind is at equilibrium, renewing my love of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's original brainy,
eccentric sleuth. The chess game is a marvel of strategy, replete with revenge, intrigue, and just plain ingenuity. Director
Guy Ritchie's visuals include delightful Downey disguises and lively speed ramping in a forest bombarded by bullets.
Hans Zimmer's music leans heavily on the fiddle to lighten the load of a difficult plot.
Watson's marriage, rather than taking away from the bromance, adds unexpected color and creativity. So Ritchie has
ramped up the intellectual content and at least balanced it with the athletic, which was a strength of his 2009 version,
Sherlock Holmes. With Inspector Lastrade just a memory and Holmes's love, Irene Adler (Rachel McAdams),
appearing briefly, we are left to enjoy not so much the interaction of Holmes and Watson but the explosiveness of
Holmes and Moriarty.
After a first half of explosions, the second half satisfies traditionalists for the chess game of life and death—and
that's the suspenseful fate of the world in those pieces. Director Guy Ritchie has improved on his 2009 version.
 
Summary
In the Sherlock Holmes film, it is very interesting and the setting is not boring, whether it is from the storyline
to the shooting, everything is neatly arranged and this film offers lessons about the power of logical thinking. Even
the most advanced technology cannot replace the power of simple observation and rational inquiry. Besides that
we are also led to not easy to be reactive about something, be more careful, not always "think positively" and
certainly reduce 'baper'.
So apart from being an entertainment this film also sharpens our brains. If you are a gendre riddle lover or a
detective, I highly recommend this film
