This is a FREE event! Follow link to RSVP.

ORUĀ:

Oruā are stalwarts of the Brazilian lo-fi music scene from Rio de Janeiro. Lead by critically-acclaimed producer and guitarist, Lê Almeida, they have toured the US and Europe throughout the past few years, most notably opening and collaborating with 90's indie rock legend, Doug Martsch of Built to Spill. They recorded, co-produced and co-mixed Built to Spill's latest release 'When the Wind Forgets Your Name' (Sub Pop Records) and recently released another critically-acclaimed album of their own this year, titled 'PASSE' (Transfusão Noise Records). Don't miss their high-energy shows with fuzzy guitars, analog noise, and grooves that will put you in a collective trance.

MELANIE RADFORD:

As a professional bassist of multiple genres, Melanie Radford has performed and toured across the United States, Europe, Australia, and Brazil, most notably with the 90's indie rock band Built to Spill as well as her riff-heavy, post-riot grrrl outfit, Blood Lemon. While she became known as the bassist who brought infectious, head-banging to these bands, her solo work is a separate and distinctive energy altogether.

Conceptualized while touring extensively and needing to find an undisturbed space for herself, Melanie began writing her solo material as a love letter to the bass guitar, rooted in drone, delicate minimalism, and textural field recordings that were collected in her travels.
