BUSINESS AFFAIRS DIRECTOR

The College of Letters and Science at UW-Milwaukee has more than 1,200 faculty, academic staff, and University employees in 25 academic departments and a variety of centers, facilities, administrative units, and interdepartmental academic programs. Job Summary
Under the general direction of the Dean of the College of Letters & Science, this position serves as budget and fiscal manager and is responsible for the direct management of the day-to-day business and financial activities for the College, including annual budget development, budget management, and oversight of College finances. This position is responsible for managing approximately $100 million in total funds. This role requires interaction with university administration, business officers, directors, and managers, as well as College administrators, faculty, and staff. This position has supervisory responsibility for four positions. As budget and fiscal manager for the College, this position serves as a member of the College’s administrative leadership group. expected to exercise discretion, respect, diplomacy, and good judgment in handling difficult or sensitive situations. The DFO ensures excellence, effectiveness, and efficiency of the College’s business operations and is an active participant in campus financial strategy development.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree
• 3+ years of professional work experience performing directly related work within a similar function
• Strong knowledge of financial principles, accounting standards and financial reporting
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in accounting, finance, business, or relevant field
• Master’s, related advanced degree, or relevant professional certification (e.g., CPA )
• Directly related experience working in Finance in a public university setting
• Prior supervisory or leadership experience
• Proven track record of collaboration and advancing initiatives across all levels of an organization.
• Proficiency in financial analysis and reporting tools, including PC-based spreadsheet applications and systems
