Associate Professor or Professor of Finance

Job Description & Qualification

The Area of Finance in the Rawls College of Business at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, Associate Professor or Professor to begin Fall 2025. Candidates with a distinguished research record evidenced by publications in top-tier academic journals will be considered for an endowed chair.

Major/Essential Functions:
In line with TTU’s strategic priorities to engage and empower a diverse student body, enable
innovative research and creative activities, and transform lives and communities through outreach
and engaged scholarship, applicants should have experience working with diverse student populations
at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels within individual or across the areas of teaching,
research/creative activity, and service.

As a faculty member in the Area of Finance, you will be expected to:
• Play an active role in enhancing the research environment within the Finance Area.
• Maintain a strong record of publishing in top-tier finance journals.
• Contribute to the growth of the PhD program by teaching doctoral seminars and supervising
dissertations.
• Teach courses at the undergraduate, master's, and/or PhD levels as required.
Required Qualifications:
• PhD in Finance or a closely related field.
• Proven track record of publishing in top-tier finance journals.
• Experience teaching at the undergraduate, master's, and/or doctoral levels.

Preferred Qualifications:
In addition to the required qualifications, individuals with the following preferred qualifications are strongly
encouraged to apply:
• Successful mentorship and placement of former PhD students.
• Teaching experience at the doctoral level.
• Research focus aligned with banking, real estate, or investment fields.
• Proven record of service to the academic community.
• Relevant industry work experience

About the College:
The Jerry S. Rawls College of Business Administration is AACSB accredited and houses the School of Accounting that holds separate AACSB accreditation. The college offers the BBA degree with majors in accounting, energy commerce, finance, information technology, management, marketing, and supply chain management. Several formats of the MBA program are offered in fulltime, weekend, and online modalities in Lubbock, the Dallas/Fort Worth area, Houston, and San Antonio. The College offers MS degrees in accounting, data science, finance, and marketing research and analytics. A Ph.D. in business administration is offered with tracks in accounting, finance, management, management information systems, and marketing. With a faculty of over 140 and a staff that exceeds 80, the college enrolls over 5,000 undergraduate and 800 graduate students.

About the Department/School/Area:
The Finance Area is one of six academic units, serving over 1,400 undergraduate majors. It encompasses the Excellence in Banking Program, offering a certificate in Commercial Banking; the Texas Tech Real Estate Center and Real Estate Program, which provide a certificate in Commercial Real Estate; and additional certificates in Investment Management and Corporate Risk Management & Insurance. With 22 full-time and emeritus faculty members, the department is dedicated to teaching excellence and advancing high-quality academic research within a collaborative environment. The Finance Area provides outstanding support for faculty research, teaching, and student engagement.
