Postdoctoral Research Position in Finance

Job Description & Qualification

The Finance area at Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management offers a two‐year postdoctoral fellowship for recent graduates with a Ph.D. in Finance or Economics, with research interests in financial economics.
Postdocs work closely with Owen finance faculty on new research projects, while making progress toward publication of their current work. To be eligible, candidates must complete their Ph.D. by July prior to starting the fellowship. The strongest candidates will be those whose research interests align closely with Owen faculty and where the postdoc and faculty member can foresee developing joint research projects. We encourage applicants to look at Owen finance faculty webpage and identify specific faculty with similar research interests in their cover letter.

Fellowship Details
Accepted postdocs receive an annual salary plus benefits, as well as an annual allowance for research/conference‐related travel and expenses. In addition, the school provides a single standard computer, IT support, and access to standard databases such as those through Wharton Research Data Services (WRDS). During the period of the fellowship, the postdocs are expected to be in residence, work closely with faculty on research projects, participate actively in research seminars at Owen, and otherwise contribute to the research mission of the school. Teaching opportunities may be available for qualified individuals. Information on current Owen postdocs and prior Owen postdoc placements is available on the Owen website.

The Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University is dedicated exclusively to graduate management education. It has an enrollment of over 600 full‐time students in its full‐time MBA, Executive MBA, Master of Science in Finance, Masters of Accountancy, Masters of Marketing, and Masters of Management in Health Care programs. The school’s 50 full‐time faculty members are actively engaged in research, which is supported in part through the school's four research centers, including the Hans Stoll Financial Markets Research Center (FMRC), which fosters scholarly research on the financial markets, instruments, and institutions.
