SERENGETI, MOUNT KILIMANJARO NATIONAL PARKS SCOOP PRESTIGIOUS PRIZES AT THE 31ST ANNUAL WORLD TRAVEL AWARDS
Serengeti has been crowned as Africa’s Leading National Park 2024, while the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro has been recognized as Africa’s Leading Tourist Attraction 2024. Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA) manages both National Parks.
The awards were announced at the high profile World Travel Awards Gala Dinner and Awards ceremony, held at Diamonds Leisure Beach & Golf Resort, Mombasa, Kenya on October 18, 2024. Successfully contending against prominent competitors like Central Kalahari Game Reserve (Botswana), Etosha National Park (Namibia), Kidepo Valley National Park (Uganda), Kruger National Park (South Africa), and Maasai Mara National Reserve (Kenya), Serengeti National Park's victory marks a record sixth consecutive accolade as Africa’s Leading National Park.
Mount Kilimanjaro also gained distinguished recognition, standing out among iconic nominees such as the Pyramids of Giza (Egypt), South Africa's Table Mountain and Robben Island, Hartbeespoort Aerial Cableway (South Africa), Lake Malawi, Botswana's Okavango Delta, and Tanzania's own Ngorongoro Conservation Area, demonstrating their global appeal and allure. This milestone achievement can be attributed to Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA)’s innovative outreach initiative, the 'Vote Now' campaign, which engaged and mobilized outdoors enthusiasts worldwide over a three-month period.
These recognitions underscore Tanzania's status as a premier destination for unforgettable safari experiences and highlight the critical importance of ongoing conservation efforts. The accolades come as a reminder of the essential work being done to conserve these extraordinary national parks, ensuring their splendor endures for future generations.
