Motivation
[edit]The Straßenkennziffer (Austrian Street ID) is the official ID for small settlements (hamlets, despersed settlements ... ) and streets. It is administrated by "Statistik Austria" and by "BEV", see (en:Statistik Austria and en:Bundesamt für Eich- und Vermessungswesen) I will use it as identifier to add statistical data to items. Discussion
[edit]- Support --Maincomb (talk) 15:09, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
- Comment maybe "Straßenkennziffer (Austria)" can do as "English" name? "street number in Austria" somehow obscures that it's an identifier, and not street key (P1945) for use in Austria. BTW, I completed the "see also" above. --- Jura 16:46, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
- I suggest "Street ID (Austria)" or "Austrian Street ID" instead of Straßenkennziffer. --Maincomb (talk) 17:44, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
- Your proposal, so it's generally expected that you'd update it. --- Jura 11:05, 18 December 2021 (UTC)

- Support for the identifier itself. Not so sure about the mass import (cue database rights) and even less sure about yet another attempt to conflate cadastral municipalities, localities, streets and everything remotely geographical. --Emu (talk) 14:45, 18 December 2021 (UTC)
- Good point. At least for Q81926111 and Q66816748 (samples above), Wikidata's version of OSM links to other street names. --- Jura 16:07, 18 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Emu: do we need to add some clarification or should we move ahead with this? --- Jura 12:54, 22 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Jura1 The identifier itself seems ready for creation. However, at the moment there are 8 examples, none of which refer to streets as the layperson would imagine them. Possible substitutions (with many sitelinks):
- Graben (Q699937) → 901563
- Getreidegasse (Q688477) → 031215
- We could use one of the eight examples as another example to illustrate that “streets” in the sense of this identifier sometimes include (smaller) localities. Emu (talk) 13:14, 22 December 2021 (UTC)
- Yeah, the samples should start with some that are easy to understand. Looking at https://w.wiki/4axf with some that may do. Vienna Ring Road (Q46232) has the lowest QID. If you don't see any other issues, I suppose it's ok to go. --- Jura 13:23, 22 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Jura1 Vienna Ring Road (Q46232) is a special case since it’s one street with several segments that have different street IDs. So it’s probably not a very good example, it might even be a challenge to model this situation. -- Emu (talk) 14:25, 22 December 2021 (UTC)
- ok. Let's go with your pick then. --- Jura 14:27, 22 December 2021 (UTC)

- Maybe the German label should mention Austria too. --- Jura 13:24, 22 December 2021 (UTC)

- @Maincomb, Jura1, Emu, Arbnos: Done Austrian Street ID (P10198) Pamputt (talk) 16:51, 27 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Pamputt: the property you created doesn't seem to match the proposal. Please explain why you changed label and description from the proposal --- Jura 09:33, 28 December 2021 (UTC)
- My first suggestion was "street number in Austria" but then I thougt "Austrian Street ID" would be better. --Maincomb (talk) 09:54, 28 December 2021 (UTC)
- do not hesitate to modify by yourself. Pamputt (talk) 10:32, 28 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Pamputt: the creation is meant to match the consensus you assessed. I don't want to give the impression I changed it from that. Can you explain the difference between the proposal above and your creation? --- Jura 10:45, 28 December 2021 (UTC)

- @Pamputt: The main usage will be for small settlements because in small settlements without named streets, the number represents the settlement itself. I did this in Kolonie Backhausen (Q81929048) (=small settlement) an got an exclamation mark. And I will use this in the language "German" and in de:WP. There is no at:WP because "Austrian German" is a variety of Standard German and only used in some formal situations. --Maincomb (talk) 10:08, 28 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Maincomb: I think I addressed all the problem you mentionned. About the language, I think it makes sense to ask to fill a label in Austrian German because this is the variety of the language that is spoken in Austria. That's said, I also added "standard" German. Pamputt (talk) 11:14, 28 December 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for creating this. I expanded one of the sample items: Getreidegasse in Salzburg --- Jura 21:43, 28 December 2021 (UTC)
- “The main usage will be for small settlements because in small settlements without named streets, the number represents the settlement itself.” No, there is no consensus for this. See above. Emu (talk) 23:57, 28 December 2021 (UTC)
- "use this property for streets (about 130.000 items) is possible, but only planned in exceptional cases" - my intention was to use this property in existing items (like Getreidegasse (Q688477)) but there should not be created 130.000 new items because of this property. --Maincomb (talk) 11:46, 29 December 2021 (UTC)
- "planned use" is the use by the proposer. One is obviously free to apply it to other suitable items. I just created a few for Salzburg, where Wikidata already had the street address. --- Jura 20:30, 29 December 2021 (UTC)

- Somehow related to the scope question above: what item should I use as value for located on street (P669) for buildings in Salzburg with an address at "Mönchsberg"? List is at https://w.wiki/4dAe . Item for the mountain is Mönchsberg (Q1329815). --- Jura 14:37, 1 January 2022 (UTC)
