SKAdNetwork

Apple has made changes to ad traffic attribution on their devices starting from iOS 14.5.

Previously, Apple's Identifier for Advertisers, IDFA, was used to track ad traffic. The IDFA was sent to apps and ad networks by default, with users being able to disable this themselves in the settings.

Starting from iOS 14.5, the IDFA will no longer be sent to apps and ad networks by default. Only users will be able to allow access to this information. Events will be tracked using SKAdNetwork. Conversion data will be obtained differently. Because of this, ad networks and apps that place ads, along with promoted apps, will have to make changes to how they operate. You can learn more in the Apple documentation.

iOS targeting campaigns have certain restrictions:
  • An iOS app can be advertised using SKAdNetwork by the app owner, as well as by advertisers who've been given access to the app by the owner
  • The ad must use a direct URL to the app in the App Store
  • Each app can have no more than 12 ads created for it. The number of ads used can be found in the app card in the SKAdNetwork tab
  • If you archive an ad, you'll be able to access its Apple ID again after seven days
  • The app install statistics update with a delay of 24 to 48 hours.
