Assassination of Ibrahim Aqil → ? – He is not a well-known person and is said not to have been the primary target. A title such as “September 2024 Beirut attack” would be preferable. EpicAdventurer (talk) 19:16, 20 September 2024 (UTC)
- Support September 2024 Haret Hreik attack to be more consistent with 2024 Haret Hreik airstrike (Which I think should be changed to Assassination to Fouad Shukr). Prodrummer619 (talk) 19:57, 20 September 2024 (UTC)
- Ibrahim Aqil was the chief commander of Hezbollah military wing, and a designated terrorist by the United States who put a 7,000,000$ bounty on his head (source). He was a well-known terrorist and a very senior figure in Hezbollah. MathKnight 20:06, 20 September 2024 (UTC)
- @MathKnight He was definitely a major figure but at least 10 other major figures may have been killed in the strike per the recent news developments. September 2024 Beirut attack is the safest title. Prodrummer619 (talk) 20:17, 20 September 2024 (UTC)
- As was already said, he is a well-known figure in Hezbollah, and according to IDF Spokesperson he was the main primary target of this attack. Whoever was killed with him, was killed mainly because they were at the same place, and not because they were specifically targeted (if the were targeted, we would have known who they are by now). I think the title should stay as it is. רון18 (talk) 20:31, 20 September 2024 (UTC)

- Support September 2024 Haret Hreik attack as second choice. Support September 2024 Beirut attack as the first choice (as most RS use Beirut:[1][2][3]).VR (Please ping on reply) 04:58, 21 September 2024 (UTC)
- Support 2024 Beirut attack; no need for "September". Makeandtoss (talk) 10:11, 21 September 2024 (UTC)
- @Makeandtoss: Assassination of Saleh al-Arouri, 2024 Haret Hreik airstrike (Fuad Shukr) and this attack all occurred on 2024 in the same neighborhood; so it could create some confusion. Prodrummer619 (talk) 11:31, 21 September 2024 (UTC)
- As an Arabic speaker I have never heard of Haret Hreik in Arabic media in the past few months. When I first read this name, I thought it was an Israeli settlement. The coverage has almost exclusively focused on the Dahieh suburb, so if we are choosing a more specific location it would have to be this. Makeandtoss (talk) 11:35, 21 September 2024 (UTC)
- I'm fine with either Haret Hreik or Beirut. I was talking about being more date specific since multiple attacks happened in the same area in the same year. Prodrummer619 (talk) 12:33, 21 September 2024 (UTC)

- Support September 2024 Beirut attack as the WP:COMMONNAME; sources near-unanimously refer to Beirut rather than Haret Hreik. Flemmish Nietzsche (talk) 19:36, 21 September 2024 (UTC)
- Support September 2024 Beirut attack or September 2024 Haret Hreik attack per nom and VR. Jebiguess (talk) 00:05, 22 September 2024 (UTC)
- In light of recent events, I would suggest 20 September 2024 Beirut attack instead. There have been Israeli attacks today in Beirut and Dahieh.

- Support 20 September 2024 Beirut attack; forgot the formality Jebiguess (talk) 00:12, 24 September 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose. It wasn't attack on Beirut but on a specific target in Beirut: Ibrahim Aqil and HQ Redwan Force HQ meeting. Maybe we should remame it "Attack on Ibraim Aqil and Redwan Force HQ meeting". It is certainly more accurate. MathKnight 20:18, 23 September 2024 (UTC)
