The first paragraph in this section is a long, incomprehensible run-on. I would fix it myself, but it's so confusing that I can't figure out what it's supposed to mean. Leangle30 (talk) 16:52, 24 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Trying to clarify:

the creation of this sub-genre has its origins in several different film trends, notably:

  1. mondo films (exploitation documentary films, which shifted the limits of what could be shown in Italian cinema)
  2. a series of (successful) comedies which focused on Italian hypocrisy about sexual taboos (eg The Birds, the Bees and the Italians, I See Naked)
  3. Pier Paolo Pasolini's "trilogy of life" (that generated a number of unofficial sequels and spoofs that became collectively known as Decamerotici).

Elaborating a bit, mondo films popularized nudity (previously basically banned in Italian cinema) and proved to be successful at the box office, the comedies popularized sex-based plots in the mainstream audience and proved to be successful at the box office as well, while the Pasolini's trilogy, though being considered arthouse films, mixed these two elements (nudity and sex-based plots) with some impressive commercial success.

Once all these films proved to be successful, producers first tried to capitalize Pasolini's success with Decamerotici, which basically consisted of a series of low budget Pasolini's fake sequels and mockbusters set in the Middle Age and which officially started the "commedia sexy all'italiana" genre.

Clearer now? Feel free to reorganize and reword the paragraph, obviously. --Cavarrone 18:24, 24 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the clarification. I broke up the paragraph into separate sentences and incorporated some of your information. Sorry if I sounded harsh earlier. Leangle30 (talk) 04:21, 25 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
No problem. I really apprecciated your genuine willingness to improve the article, thank you for the rewriting. Cavarrone 04:35, 25 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
