Pasteles in Hawaii
editI believe that it should be noted that pasteles made in Hawaii are made similarly to the ones made in Puerto Rico. There is no description as to how the pasteles in Hawaii are made. I also believe that pasteles are still spelled pasteles in Hawaii, it is just the pronunciation of it that is different. --Reuben2011 (talk) 03:15, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
- It's spelled differently and recipe book, written by Puerto Ricans of Hawaii for their centennial celebration (of when migrations to Hawaii began), says they used different ingredients to make 'em. Mamie
edit"The correct name for a Puerto Rican Pastel is Mamie." Honestly, it's a bit condescending to say "correct". I've never heard of it, and the reference linked doesn't support the "Mamie" naming. Mexico

It can use some disambiguation. But I don't think throwing "cake" into the article is the right move.

editThis article is about a primarily Caribbean dish. What is described under the history section has little relevance as Argentina is a distinct cultural area in Latin America and in an entirely different region. Moreover, the dish described therein sharing the same name has little relation to the dish. Introduction
editIt would be good to actually describe this food item as the very first thing rather than talk about the geography of the dish. I've read the intro and the first variation info and I still don't know just what this thing is. I'm in Puerto Rico and am trying to understand items on menus without having to order them.
