I tend to be an inclusionist Wikipedian. Many of my contributions have been photographic. Photographic Gallery My interests are in Aircraft and Aviation, Health and Medical, Music, Speech Recognition and Signal Processing, Military systems and history, and more generally in Science and Art.

Stubs vs. Article Requests

edit

Writing a stub is better than merely requesting an article. A stub, no matter how small, doesn't merely ask for an article. It is the crucial first step that will lead to the full article. The seed has germinated, in the hope and in the faith that others will contribute more illuminating rays of detail.

This is a _wiki_, a living, collaborative encyclopedia. A work in progress.

Those who wish to see only complete, polished and finished articles and so continually delete incipient buds of knowledge before they have a chance to grow and blossom, are stunting the growth of the project and retarding the day when we can gaze at the magnificent edifice of knowledge we seek to build.

Granted, there are many worthless and vanity articles foisted on the wikipedia continually, but in the deletionist zeal, some "babies" are being tossed out with the "bath water". It behooves us all to be more careful and considerate to our fellow wikipedians, many who are perhaps contributing for the first time. They need to be encouraged, not obliterated.

So... ¿ what's so "special" about it ?

edit

'Special' means "specific, but not specified" 'Special' is a marker used to denote that the subset has certain qualities or characteristics, not shared by the other members of the set. But these qualities or characteristics need to be detailed. "It/She/He/They are special BECAUSE ... ??" To merely use the word 'special' is informational laziness.

Google Search for "special site:wikipedia.org" yields 13,200,000 hits. Hmmm.... We have a lot of specifying to do, fellow Wikipedians. Intersofia 15:10, 20 July 2005 (UTC)

Photographs & Illustrations

edit

A picture is worth a thousand words - but it took words to say that. ;-)

I think a complete article should include photographs of the aircraft ...

  • 1. In Flight (eg: Cessna 172 )
  • 2. The Cockpit / Instrument Panel (eg: KC-135, DC-3 )
  • 3. Static - on ground
  • 4. Line drawing of sections: (side, top, front, maybe also back, bottom)

Doing this for every aircraft article is a daunting task. Let's start !
